Bucketheadbucketbum · 16/03/2023 23:07

15 months old

Vomited just now happened to be outside room when happened so popped in. Not sure if would have woken me if id been asleep. very sad and messy. Cleaned up and back to sleep

AIBU to not sleep in same room as baby tonight? Worried about baby choking and it not waking me, but think this might be excess worry.

know if I sleep in here will be much worse sleep for both of us (baby won't self sootheif naturally wakes , ill be on kids trundle bed not very comfy etx)

YABU - Sleep in with baby
YANBU - Baby will cry and wake you if more vomiting

I'm sleeping in with my 5 year old tonight because she's throwing up a lot. Might be over the top but she's a deep sleeper and I would rather be safe then sorry.

cestlavielife · 16/03/2023 23:09

Your baby is sick
Someone sleeps in with baby

Bucketheadbucketbum · 16/03/2023 23:10

Thanks!

I wouldn’t consider not sleeping beside baby in this case. Not worth the risk and they might want comfort or safety

notangelinajolie · 16/03/2023 23:11

I’d put 15 month old in bed with me and DH would be relegated to the sofa.

NYNYNYNYNYNYNYNYNYNYNYNYN · 16/03/2023 23:12

Baffled as why you would even ask this.

You've said you don't think you would hear them if they choked 🤯🤯🤯

I wouldn't give 2 hoots if I didn't get a seconds worth of sleep, knowing I would hear them if they needed me would outweigh this.

Xmasbaby11 · 16/03/2023 23:13

Sleep with the baby!

I still have my 9 year old with me when she is sick! I know it’s not necessary but it comforts her a lot and she won’t always want me there.

berrycakeandcustard · 16/03/2023 23:16

Stay with your sick baby, don't leave them to sleep alone.

Merryoldgoat · 16/03/2023 23:25

My 5yo was sick in the night a few weeks ago and I didn’t hear and felt utterly awful when I found them. It still upsets me.

If I’d known I’d have 100% slept with them. Definitely at the age of your child.

DrJump · 16/03/2023 23:31

Sick kids end up with a parent in their bed or in the parent bed depend on who is sick.
We all get slightly more sleep that way.

Gagaandgag · 16/03/2023 23:33

Stay with them

Keeween · 16/03/2023 23:33

Aw poor wee soul. Definitely stay in with them, if not for the safety/choking aspect, then for the comfort. They may want their ma.

Spamalam · 16/03/2023 23:43

I’ve always stayed in the room when my children have been sick or very poorly. My daughter is a tween now and if she’s feeling really rough she asks me to stay with her, we just snuggle down for the night

Prinnny · 16/03/2023 23:45

Of course you should stay with them, why would you not?!

BertaHoon · 16/03/2023 23:48

Ah you've just reminded me of putting sicky 2 year old in with me.

She woke - Mummy! I immediately turned towards her to ask what and she vomited in my mouth 🤣🤣😩

Rather than than leave her on her own though. Puke.

Hope your little one sleeps through with you by their side and feels better in the morning.

wibblewobbleball · 16/03/2023 23:51

I've always put mine in with me when they're sick. I'd never considered them choking on sick actually, which perhaps I should, but more that they were poorly and therefore sad and needed me?

LongLostTeacher · 17/03/2023 00:08

My DD has a condition where she vomits a lot. I bought a blow up mattress to sleep on her floor, I found this worked better for her sleep than having her in our bed, she never settled well in our bed. Honestly so much easier than going back and forth, worrying about her and checking on her. I was just right there.

Bucketheadbucketbum · 17/03/2023 00:44

Thanks everyone. She woke again after i posted and i brought her into bed with me but almost 2hrs later is juat not settling so I've jist put back into cot and am laying next go her on floor with my arm resting on her. Fingers crossed we both get some sleep soon! Ar least no more vomiting (yet!!)

Yes, without a doubt, sleep in with them.

My DS came home from a party when he was late teens. Worse for wear on drink and he was sick. I slept on the floor next to his bed as I was worried he'd choke in his sleep. Spent most of the night holding his hand (literally) and listening to his drivel.

aww @S0upertrooper that is so 💕

LadyJ2023 · 17/03/2023 01:19

No way if any of mine all under 2 are sick would I leave then alone. Hubby will go on sofa or floor and I will pop them next to me in bed even our 13 yr old who had a horrendous sick bug for 4 days a few weeks ago..made a bed on floor in our room he was so ill bless him. They just want to feel loved and cared for by mum or dad when they feel rotten. Hope your wee one is better soon

S0upertrooper · 17/03/2023 02:36

@user143677441 thank you. Drunk teenage boys "love you sooo much" too! 🤣

berrycakeandcustard · 17/03/2023 17:00

How's your little one today @Bucketheadbucketbum ? Hope she's feeling much better and you both managed to get some sleep last night.
