To want longer tops/t-shirts

Granted I'm shopping in the dusty corners of 'big girl' sizes, but is it too much to hope that manufacturers can make t-shirts longer at the same time as making them wider? I don't want a longline top (that ends up being a mini dress), I want a t-shirt that covers the button of my jeans and pouch of my tummy. Any recommendations for where to shop are welcome!

I don't know why so much women's stuff is sleeveless. Men get sleeves, we don't (don't start me on practical pockets).

Not really what you're asking but I bought 2 mens jumpers in H&M the other day, the sleeves reach my hands, the bottom finishes at just the right spot. I'm so happy with them, the quality seems so much better than the women's ones. From now on I'll be keeping my eye out on any other future purchases.

Great idea! I went with a men's fleece from Go Outdoors because it had better pockets

Today I'm wearing a French Connection jumper and a Primark tshirt, both of which are crotch covering.
I check length measurements before buying tops on line, has to be at least 72cm on me, though I am quite short-bodied.
Live Unlimited design for plus sizes, and being designed for plus sizes, make their tops a decent length. M&S do some longer length tshirts too.

What size are you looking for? I can recommend a few in size 16/18
The other thing I do is if I really like a casual top but it's a bit short is layer a tight long vest under it

ProfessionalWeirdo · 15/03/2023 16:04

It isn't just you, OP. I'm not particularly tall but I have a long torso, and I frequently have to go up a size, or even two, just to get the extra body length.

I've found good options at Matalan and George at Asda.

Ugh crop tops everywhere! It really annoys me I know it's the style right now but what about us normal people who arent size 6's and 8's
The amount of time I find lovely tops but then realise it's cropped or just too short to cover anything
Really irritating
Sorry don't have any recommendations x

Women who are slim and not big-busted aren't necessarily short with it. Sizing shouldn't expand like dragging a picture out from the corner in Paint.

Thanks. Mine are cashmere jumpers reduced to £25. Ordinarily I wouldn't have even bothered but at such a great price I thought I'd try them on. I'm a 14 to 16. I've got one in large which is a great fit and one XL which is more casual and slouchy. Both look good. I'm tall with big boobs. I think next time I'll have a look for mens merino wool jumpers.

I bought some shorts and T-shirt pjs in Primark at the weekend, the T-shirt looked normal length on the little picture but when I took them out of the ribbon that tied them together, the T-shirt was ridiculously short and I can’t see them being comfy to sleep in!

PerrinAybara · 15/03/2023 19:21

I buy men's t-shirts (Asda) as they are longer (and feel like better quality material, but let's not go there).
