To be worried, or am I overreacting?

Found a breast lump yesterday, largish, lumpy and oval shape, managed to get a gp appointment first thing this morning. GP found another 3-4, at least 1-2 in each breast, all lumpy, one pea shaped that she could grip onto. Said she wasn't worried as there were quite a few of them and would refer me to the breast clinic once I had finished my next period if they havent gone. She said it may just be that my breasts are are lumpy in texture. I'm also 35.

I Regularly check and never noticed anything before, have average sized breasts with some loose skin but never noticed a lump before and surprised the GP found more.

Am I being ridiculous for being worried and scared?, I can't help but panic a bit but I'm not sure if its overreacting.

YANBU to be worried as it’s a very natural reaction, but breast lumps are so common, especially at your age. The lumps sounds like harmless cysts or fibroadenomas. I’ve had plenty of them and they come and go. It doesn’t sound like your doctor is too worried - they would have referred you if necessary.

Ps. I’ve had a perfect pea size lump for the past 30 years (fibroadenoma), all ok.

I have about three/four of them, they are tumours but non cancerous. No more likely to cause cancer than if I had none. You should be seen under the 2 week deadline and they’ll take a quick biopsy (really easy and not traumatic at all) to put your mind at rest.

Thank you, feeling slightly reassured now. Still worried but not in a panic as much

I went to gp last week as i had nipple discharge. She wasnt bery concerned couldnt feel a lump in that breast but could feel one in the other breast. Ive not really noticed it before and now she has noticed it i can feel it when luing down. Absolutely shitting myself. It feels quite oval and long ish. I rang to see how long the wait is and its 4-6 weeks which is absurd! Thats for urgent appointments. I didnt sleep foe two nights agyer i left the gp surgery. Luckily my dad said hed pay to be seen privately.
let me know how yours goes im similar age to you x

I've been booked into the breast clinic next week, had to call my gp when my period had finished and if it was still there then to call the gp and they would refer me to the breast clinic, called them on Monday and by Wednesday I had been given an appointment for this Thursday (a week later), dreading it but I'm glad it's happening quickly. They have an urgent 2 week referral so I'm surprised yours will be 4-6 weeks, that seems unfair you have to wait.

Thanks all, update is that they basically couldnt find anything, if there was something there its now gone, they said that GPs get about 2 days training in finding breast lumps so can get it wrong, she said I have normal breast tissue. Was given am ultrasound on the 1 breast I felt a lump in and it was all clear. Im happy its all ok, slightly annoyed the gp said they found more as I had to cut my holiday short for this appointment but its always better to be safe then sorry
