To order a Chinese for the second night in a row?

Going through a really difficult time at the moment. DP working late and was yesterday.

I had a Chinese yesterday and fancy another takeout tonight, possibly even from the same place. Have the change from yesterday’s which would cover a small order. I know it’s not the healthiest thing to do but I am fed up and not sure I can face up to cooking. Usually I am really health conscious and very much watch my diet and not sure it’s very moral to fritter money away on takeout.

YABU - throw something in the oven, you’ll feel better for eating something more substantial

YANBU - get the takeout it’s ok sometimes

You want Chinese. You get Chinese!
Don't feel guilty, you're supporting a small business 😂

Prawn balls - heavenly

I second the yellow bean - so yum

YABU

If you want to then of course do it and I wouldn’t judge you for it.

But I would suggest only doing it if you were poorly and struggled to cook anything.

Eating crap because you feel down is a very slippery slope and can lead to emotional eating which is difficult to get out of.

@Iamcloey that’s true. They deserve financial support within the cost of living crisis, right??! Hahaha

I'd cook something low effort tonight. Just because I get a "takeaway hangover" so it'd just be kicking the can't-be-arsed-to-cook can down the road til tomorrow. But if you don't get that slump then go for it.
What did you have last night? If it was rice maybe noodles or vice versa.

Ah get a takeaway and enjoy it! Thats what they're there for, those moments when you need a treat- even if it's 2 days a in a row!

Also, you pondering on the morality of it did make me smile. I think you're ok to get a korma and still have your morals intact!

It was my birthday this weekend and we got a Chinese takeaway for all of us on the way home from a show on Friday night. I was very sneaky clever with my order, and got a shrimp chow mein and an egg fried rice, so had half Friday night and the other half last night! Delicious, and instead of feeling guilty for ordering takeout 2 nights in a row, I feel frugal and smug for not wasting food or money!😁

Let us know what you decided in the end OP 😋

I had takeaway on Thursday (lasted me 3 meals!) and then yesterday was lucky enough to be taken out for lunch, but still had to stop myself ordering takeaway tonight! 😳 Managed to whip up a quick pasta dish and some salad, but you've got/had a lot going on so you must let yourself have takeaway if it helps at all. Anyway, whatever you eat in the end, I hope it nourishes you and makes tomorrow easier to face.

Mentioned previously:

Chicken Kung po half and half (half chips/rice)
*No veg, no cashews (would be my order)

Enjoy yourself OP!

I wouldn’t but that’s only because Chinese take away leaves me feeling rubbish due to the MSG .

You've still got the change from yesterday. Just bloody do it woman.
And enjoy the "me time".

The moment you get a pang of self-recrimination, consider my story.
My pal & I had an early doors Indian takeaway at her place: one of us child-sat, the other drove 20 miles (rural) to pick it up. Pyjamas & TV on, joy.
We got unutterably pissed, & come mid-evening hungry again.
We ordered Chinese, but - get this - because we were pissed, paid for a TAXI to bring it.
Sybaritic decadence.

AND the next day, friends came round for a wall-painting party. Many beers in, friend & I kept meeting up in the kitchen to secretly gobble leftover Chinese, muttering to each other "only cure for a hangover, & don't tell the others!"

It was a one-off event, but a doozer, & I'm still proud of our greed & hedonism.

YNBA.

I used to work in a Chinese Restaurant, I ate Chinese for lunch or dinner every day. I Love Chinese food. 90 % of it is stir fried meat & vegetables in sauce. Go easy on the fried rice & noodles , it’s OK to have it two times in one week. If I could afford it I would live on it.

Chinese food from restaurants and takeaways is full of sugar and fat. The sauce is like syrup and it is fried in lots of oil. It's not healthy just because it has vegetables in it.

This is a really old thread though so I'm sure OP has made their decision either way :)
