AIBU to hate salespeople?

Ok, bit dramatic. But I am frustrated by how difficult it is to get an answer to a simple question.

All I wanted was a quote for plantation shutters for one window measuring 1.6x1m. And how long it's likely to take.

I submitted this query on a website where they promised to get back to me asap.

I have since received 3 voicemail messages and 3 emails offering to set up a home consultation appointment and to let them know if I need anything.

Er well I need an answer to my question! There is no point setting up an appointment if the prices are going to be astronomical - just give me a ballpark figure fgs!!

I understand that there may be variable prices depending on materials and finish etc but they didn't even say it was difficult to give a number because of this reason.

It's hugely off-putting and I don't even want to use this company now.

As an aside, does anyone know of a company that does plantation shutters and offers transparent/upfront costs?

You'll get people telling you that they need accurate information to make the sale, but that's bullshit.

I hate salespeople that don't understand that not everyone wants a call or a full quote.

We did this fab session at work about communication styles, and changed our sales approaches so that all the different personality types are included.

The number one rule being - if someone emails you, email back, and if the call, call back! It's not like they haven't already shown a preference...

YABU to say you "hate salespeople" but you wouldn't be unreasonable to say you hate this particular sales technique. It's frustrating and would completely put me off too.

We've used a company called ShutterLab. They were transparent and provided all the needed info without pushy sales tactics. Definitely send them your measurements for a rough qoute.

I agree.

I cannot stand companies that insist on "consultations" or any kind of lengthy sales pitch.

I tried to buy a sofa last year. Why do they have to pretend to be your mate? Waffle on about "lifestyle choices". It's a fucking sofa, it's main function will be being farted on.

Gave up and went to IKEA where there is non of this shit and it was a third of the price.
