Baby under 6 months old left to sleep for 15 and a half hours?

This doesn't seem right to me! Wouldn't you be worried?

I saw a social media post where a baby's grandparents were proud that the baby went to sleep at 7pm and was still asleep at 10.20 the next morning. Isn't that too long? What about the nappy?

I would be worried about the baby, not pleased with it. Or AIBU?

I saw that post too @Bigfatchips, and thought it rather long.

Confused

I'm not a grandparent, I can imagine being proud of many achievements but this one struck me as odd.

Baby looks lovely and bonny though.

Yeah our eldest once fell asleep in car on way home at about 4pm, so I just popped her into bed thinking she would wake at some point and I didn't hear a peep from her until about 8 the next day and I always woke up. I guess she probably woke up during that time but didn't cry. She was a baby. Can happen.

Our first 3 children would sleep from 11 pm to 5 am from very early on. I remember being told off for not waking them to feed them . Our 4th child would wake every 2 hours to be fed, I thought I was going to die with the lack of sleep

As @PennyRa has said maybe they are dream feeding?

Haven't seen the social media post but if this is happening when they have the baby then they may be sleeping through it waking up due to less 'acute' hearing. This happened to a friend who thought baby no.1 slept through all night but when they had their 2nd and no.1 would have to come and wake them up as she and her DH are very heavy sleepers, they realised that wasn't the case and felt very guilty.

My kids always slept brilliantly! No issues, just liked sleeping. Still like it now! We would feed and nappy change without waking them. No problem. All babies are different!

My son was premature and slept all the time. Had to wake him for feeds. I wouldn't even leave a normal baby asleep for that long as I'd be worried about dehydration.

My youngest slept through from weeks old. After the torture of my first born's 39 minutes max sleep until 18m I didn't believe that babies actually did that. I think a lot of people's definitions of sleeping through is different, ie baby sleeps until 7, wakes for bottle and change then back to sleep until 10am which would obviously be absolutely fine. I would not allow a baby of that young to sleep without a feed for 15 hours no and would be really worried that they were unwell.
