There were plenty of warnings about this, it was moving slowly up the country. Hampshire had heavy snow on Wednesday.
Yet people are still surprised that heavy snow will affect the roads! It takes time to get them clear and given the infrequency of snow, the UK does not have the full infrastructure to do this quickly.
