Is giving up vaping with patches meant to be this easy?

I smoked for years. Started vaping a while back. Tried giving up cold turkey many times but always failed around day 3. A few days ago I decided to buy some nicotine patches (not sure why I never thought of this before) and I haven't had a single craving since, for the first time in years. I know I still have nicotine in my body, but my taste has improved, my smell has improved, and I can breathe again. I've read so many stories about how patches are useless and to not bother, that gum is better etc, that you still get the urge to put hand to mouth, but honestly these appear to have been a miracle for me! Can I expect things to get harder again whilst using them? I know weaning off will be hard but still, I'm very impressed. Anyone got any experience of these over a longer period? Can advise on what to prepare for (aka if cravings likely to come back)?

Some people's primary addiction is to the drug (nicotine) but not to the habit (smoking/vaping) so the patches work well. Others they have a strong nicotine addiction, but also a strong addiction to the habit, then using things like nicotine gum can be more addictive, as they meet both the drug and the habit. Other people seem to have minimal addiction to the drug, but are very addicted to the habit, and manage to quit without Nicotine replacement, so long as they have something else to do with their hands and/or mouth, so for these people taking up chewing normal gum, or knitting, or some other hand and/ or mouth habits is enough to break the habit. It sounds like you're in the first camp if patches have worked well for you. I wish you luck in staying off the vapes

Thank you. This makes a lot of sense! I'd use patches for the rest of my life if I had to and it meant I can breathe again!
