Part time working

Sorry it's not really an AIBU as such but I'm thinking of going PT due to the rising price of childcare and my own mental health at least temporarily while they are small. I hate that 5 days a week I only see the kids about 2 hours max a day (awake time) and it is shit (they're 2.5 and 1).

I'm just wondering if you work part time hours what do you do for you? (if anything) and what do you do with the kids as well?

@ellecf21 I always change my mind too. It's why I'm in this mess now 😂
Hopefully your employer can facilitate your wishes and it works out for you.

3 days, 9 to 4. I'm an IFA admin. It sounds perfect but actually 4 days working would suit me. All my part time friends are off Fridays when I am, and no others, so finding stuff to do with a 4 year old on a Tuesday in winter is a nightmare. Roll on school, when I'll be doing 4 days and attacking the housework etc on a Friday.

I work part time since going back after mat leave. DS is 3 & i love spending time with him just us going out & keeping busy. I 100% couldn't go back full time.

Go for it!

I had nearly an identical thread 1.5 years ago asking if I was crazing for considering being a SAHM. I did it and it was definitely the right decision for all of us. I really appreciate the extra time I’ve had with DD and although being at home with a young child is definitely work, it’s worth it. I’ve been very lucky I’ve been able to afford it and also doing a course (very) part time so that helps holes in my CV.

Watching with interest. I'm full time but can work from home/ and it's flexible. and kids are in school.

When they were ur kids age I worked Mon, wed and Fri. It worked out well as only away a day at a time. Grandparents helped and they went to nursery 2 days. Youngest joe goes 3 days just turned 3 and it's just easier to pay £200 a month than rope family in to help.

Eldest at school now and I still work 3 days but no longer work Mondays so I still get the allocation of bank holidays, it works out I get nearly 2 weeks extra holiday 😃

Also not working a Monday is bliss!

I work from home and 22.5hrs per week but I have flexi so sometimes more or less hours.
