Sorry to hijack AIBU but posting for traffic.
DS is one and has developed spots/blisters on his arms. Also has ulcers(that’s what GP called them) in his mouth. GP said it’s chicken pox, but it only on his arms and in his mouth.
looking at the pics, what do you think?
He’s had a fever last night and a ‘cold’ for the past week, too. Poor thing is feeling very sorry for himself

Hi. Possibly hand foot and mouth?

Going4bronze · 07/03/2023 18:06

That’s what I thought! Bloody GP

If they're in his mouth too I'd say hand foot and mouth aswell. My ds had them literally everywhere when he had it, even down his throat

WashAsDelicates · 07/03/2023 18:14

Looks more like chicken pox to me.

turnthebiglightoff · 07/03/2023 18:16

My sons had HFM twice and Chickenpox twice - that looks much more like Chickenpox to me.

ShowOfHands · 07/03/2023 18:18

When DS had HFM, spots were on his arms and in his nappy area. He was really miserable with it and had ulcers. Does seem possible. Chicken pox usually starts on the torso.

Going4bronze · 08/03/2023 01:12

Thanks for the replies. They’re on his bum now. Feel so sorry for him

That doesn't look like hand foot and mouth at all to me. More like chicken pox than hand foot and mouth.

lljkk · 08/03/2023 02:29

I don't know HFM but CPox develops that quickly. Looks like CP

BatFaceOwl · 08/03/2023 02:47

I'd probably trust what a medical professional who's seen him in person has told you, unless you've got a specific reason to call him/her 'bloody GP'

thaegumathteth · 08/03/2023 02:49

I'd definitely say pox rather than HFM

Heidi1976 · 08/03/2023 10:10

Looks pox like to me. Virasoothe is great for them.

ginnybag · 08/03/2023 10:14

Chicken pox to my eyes, and it's entirely possible to get them in your mouth and throat. I was thirteen when I caught it and they were everywhere. Get someone to get you some Virasoothe and oats for the bath and prep for a few days stuck in the house.

Going4bronze · 08/03/2023 13:12

We have Virasoothe and will be doing an out bath later on. It’s still mainly on his arms. Very angry looking spots and blisters

OneTC · 08/03/2023 13:13

Chickenpox. You get them in your mouth too

WeCome1 · 08/03/2023 13:15

How are they progressing? If they are blistered, I’d agree with CP.

WeCome1 · 08/03/2023 13:19

But actually where they are appearing seems more HFM. Does it make any difference though? Neither are notifiable diseases in the UK.

cocksstrideintheevening · 08/03/2023 13:42

Are they spreading anywhere else? Dts had what I thought was HFM and turned out to be infected eczema. It doesn't look like CP to me but hard to tell from photos. Are they oozing?

seratoninmoonbeams · 08/03/2023 13:53

Chicken pox. With my two DS they appeared on random parts of the body and orifices at different times. Definitely blister type spots too.
