the Situation:

you work With vulnerable adults and you get Covid. You take time off. You’re due back in day 6 (as per guidance) but you’re still testing positive. You feel a crappy (usually bad cough/cold) but can probably brass out a day at work.

YABU going in tomorrow. You still have a positive test. You’re putting your work colleagues and the vulnerable adults you work with at risk.

YANBU going to work tomorrow. Guidance says 5 days. Don’t worry about the positive test. Follow the guidance.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I actually called to speak to my manager and when she picked up she said “oh dear you do not sound well. I’ll mark that you’re sick tomorrow and let me know how you’re feeling at the end of the day”

Our policy is that we can return within 5 days. The majority of the adults I work with aren’t clinically vulnerable. But it would really put quite a lot of stress and strain in the families/ support workers caring for them if they got ill.

At the end of the day I do feel ill and was defo only going in as I felt guilty being off.

So the outcome is in staying home tomorrow and will see if I’ve improved.

thanks! (Not coming back to this thread)
