When to worry about dd?

Dd 10 months old has been off colour for nearly a week. Not sure if she's unwell (no temperature, bit snotty) or more likely teething. But she's been off her food all week. At meal times she'll have a few mouthfuls if I'm lucky. and that's it. She's having bottles but maybe only half of what she usually has so 3oz instead of 6oz. Her nappies are still wet but not as wet as normal and she's still pooping. But I'm worried about how little she is eating. She is incredibly irritable but still full of energy which is quite amazing given how little she's consuming. She is refusing calpol from a syringe so I'm trying to sneak it into her food but because she's barely eating I'm not convinced she's getting much.

Putting her to bed tonight she was so tired and looked a bit grey to me. She has had a new tooth but it's pretty much through the gum now so I would have thought the worst was over. When should I be concerned about her lack of appetite? Don't think a GP would do much at this stage but it doesn't feel right that she's not having much.

Sorry your threat got totally derailed by discussions on calpol OP. I would call the GP; one of my children was like this recently when strep a was a worry and I was so focused on that he didn’t have strep a symptoms that I suddenly realised that I was at risk of missing something else and 5 days of not eating much and not being right in himself was enough for me to call the GP; he had anti biotics and was better within a couple of days. They weren’t 100% sure what it was as when children can’t talk you can’t always tell but whatever it was resolved with medication

Probably best to seek advice from your HV or NHS Online if you are worries

but just wanted to say my 11 month old has started being fussy with calpol (and sleep and everything apparently haha) I’ve found filling syringe then syringing it in small doses onto a spoon works as he happily takes things from a spoon so that might be worth a shot (honestly don’t know why they ever replaced the spoon I had as a child with a syringe, syringes are a nightmare to wash and dry IMO)

Yeah you’re probably not going to get many good answers on here now considering the calpol police have arrived! Bring her to the GP and hope she feels better soon!

If they refuse calpol just hold them still with one arm and squirt a bit at a time into the side of their cheek. Not much fun at the time but they start to feel better afterwards. Good luck.

This isn't always possible when she's carrying on hysterically. She spits/cries it out and sometimes even vomits from getting so worked up. It's so annoying because she's much better when she's had it but she can't obviously understand that it's helping her. She's barely eaten again today. A 6oz bottle first thing (because she'd not had anything since 3oz at 6pm last night) then a few mouthfuls of fruit purée laced with calpol. Lunch she point blank refused and has just had a measly 1oz from another bottle. Really worried and not due at the doctors until 6pm. Luckily she is happy enough in herself (apart from when she's not!) and crawling about but there's definitely something off with her.

@reginaphallange is she chewing/growing on teething toys (or whatever she can get her hands on) or drooling as that would be additional indicators of teething?

Yes she is chewing everything, constantly has hands in her mouth and has flushed cheeks. Also quite yucky nappies. All teething indications I know but I can't see anything new (other than one that popped through last week) and she's never been this unsettled with any of her other teeth. It could definitely be teething but I feel like it could also be something else :(

I'm more worried about how little she is eating.
