Hi all.
Last night I put some hand cream on my 9yo sons hand and he jokingly blurted out "Penis juice" this took me by surprise and I immediately asked him where he had heard that from, his reply was - the boys in school say it. But what I am having a hard time understanding is how he could have seen this "penis juice" he doesn't understand what I am concerned about as he says he was just joking and was referring to wee. I have spoken to him about the importance of speaking to me if someone ever exposes their private areas to him and he seemed adamant that this has never happened and called me absurd for even mentioning it. Aibu to be concerned that someone has exposed their genitals? Where do I go from here?

Is this real?
He's 9 and making silly willy jokes - I'm not sure what the concerns are about

He called you 'absurd' - pretty good language skills - he's right

SeasonFinale · 05/03/2023 15:42

More likely boys with willy jokes and one has an older brother who has filled him in a bit more than you have your son than Someone exposing themselves. Your persistence then embarrassed him.

Butchyrestingface · 05/03/2023 15:44

Where do I go from here?

You could try believing your son.

Swiftswatch · 05/03/2023 15:45

He’s 9, not 4.

There are multiple scenarios more likely than someone exposing themselves to him.

Sensitivesallys · 05/03/2023 16:00

Thanks for all of your replies.
It just alarmed me that he somehow recognised that the hand cream resembled "penis juice." I imagine you all know what that is.

You're overthinking it. I'd have struggled not to burst out laughing

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand what you mean, could you explain please?

She means the OP is most like a smoke screen for some bloke rubbing his thoughts behind a screen and basically saying “please tell me your stories about wanking”

Sensitivesallys · 06/03/2023 13:36

So am I overreacting to this? Would anyone be concerned?
How does he even know what it looks like is confusing/concerning to me

It doesn't sound like he does know what it is but that he has heard the term from another boy. Sadly there will be children at the school that have access to adult material at home. All it takes it 5 minutes to Google a rude term on a parent's phone for instance.

Hankunamatata · 06/03/2023 14:29

I have a 9 year old but he has teen brothers. He could have easily heard it from another child who has older siblings

He is the youngest in his class, most of his classmates are already 10 and will be 11 this year. Is it possible that a 10 year old would access adult material?

Surely it’s a reference to Prince Harry putting hand cream on his penis - someone’s parent jokingly referred to it as such, maybe?

JusteanBiscuits · 06/03/2023 17:13

We had a very similar situation, also at 9.

Turned out he knew what it looked like as he'd hit puberty enough for "willy milk" to come out!!!!

ItsShiela · 07/03/2023 20:31

Like as if a 9 year old boy would use the term 'absurd', and that's even if they know what it means.

He's very intelligent. He has incredible vocabulary skills beyond his years. He most certainly understands what absurd means.
He is a gifted child 😊
I'm sorry that you feel like a parent would lie about something like that, but I can assure you that is exactly the word he used.

PonyPatter44 · 07/03/2023 20:44

If he's so intelligent, is it so surprising that he might have learned a few things about human biology?

JoelyJoe · 07/03/2023 20:45

I imagine the kids at school say it about stuff that looks similar.. e.g PVA glue... "urgh... Penis juice!" - and they probably picked it up from older siblings. Kids say all kinds of things that they overhear from their peers, without really knowing what they mean.

Demjay · 07/03/2023 20:49

You are completely overreacting

Sensitivesallys · 07/03/2023 20:55

Thanks for all the replies.
I do appreciate that I may be overreacting, and I will take his word for it that he's overheard it in school.
I sometimes forget that he's older now and will hear things like this.
