To put up a fence panel to block neighbours?

My neighbour just had a driveway put in. Unfortunately for me it’s a semi-detached and I have a bay window. They now park their car just inches from my window (they park diagonally for whatever reason)

I was just sitting down now with a cup of tea in my living room, suddenly car lights in my face and my neighbour staring at me.

Just feels like an invasion of privacy and all I can seems to think to resolve it is by putting up a panel to block them out, but it would be very obvious as to why I’ve suddenly got a high fence panel in my front garden.

Do it, who cares if it’s obvious. Privacy is very important to me and I couldn’t put up with this

I can’t picture this. Do you mean directly in front of your window or to the side along the invisible boundary line between the two houses? I say invisible with it being a semi detached.
If it’s the latter do you live in the left house and the neighbours in the right?

A diagram? Seriously? People have no ability to imagine a perfectly normal scenario on this site, or have some weird fetish for diagrams.

I feel you OP. We have the same issue with our new ndn but luckily we have a hedge that we have just let grow high enough to block them out. It can feel very intrusive.

You may be able to imagine the set up, but I can’t.

There is no context as to where the driveway is in relation to both properties, the space the OP has outside, where her driveway is, where windows, door etc are placed etc. More detail will help with advice, otherwise all we can suggest is generic solutions.

I'm with you on the fence idea. But wonder if the neighbour is parking so very close how long it will last - sounds like it might get "bumped" regularly.

Would they be willing to park diagonally in the other direction?

Our council is pretty hot in coming down on any breaches, although low level fencing is allowed (not sure that height would help OP). Retrospective planning applications have failed.

Planning permission and covenants are two separate systems. The Council would not enforce covenants unless ex-Council housing or similar.

I assume the NDN is parking diagonally because the drive isn't actually long enough to accommodate a normal size car.
OP - have they got a dropped kerb to access the drive? If not, they shouldn't be parking on the drive anyway.
Even the drive area may have needed PP depending on its size and structure. Anything over 5 square meters need to be porous or have proper drainage for run off.

Covenants definitely say no fencing over a certain height, but planning permission has also been sought. Not council housing.

Regardless OP needs to be mindful that there may be restrictions on what she can do in terms of fencing.

Relocate your bins. Then get some decent plants.

Or have a conversation with them and ask them if they wouldn't mind to reverse in/park in a different position. Ultimately they are using their driveway as it's intended

My new neighbours have turned their front garden into a concrete car park and similarly diagonally park their bright yellow car. It hurts my eyes even without headlights.

We just planted a hedge. It’s cheaper and softer than a fence and height restrictions aren’t as strict as those for fences.
