To think I DID have covid

Seaglass87 · 05/03/2023 08:19

I'm wondering if anyone has ever had this before.
On Tuesday I had an awful headache and felt achey. On Wednesday I started to feel unwell with a runny nose and sore throat and took a covid test. I got a very faint positive. I used a different pack to do another test and got another faint but slightly darker positive.
I've felt slightly poorly until today but tested negative since.
My symptoms were the same as last time I had covid - except much much milder.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Do you think I had covid? I know nobody can be sure but I'm looking for consensus as it's driving me mad not knowing haha.

Why do you care so much? You were ill, what does it matter what the name of the illness causing the symptoms is?

darjeelingrose · 05/03/2023 09:01

Why does it matter what other people think? You felt ill and tested positive. You should count yourself lucky, I've just had covid and it was not mild. I wouldn't be too reassured by the answers though, the mere fact that you are bothering to question two positive tests when it really doesn't matter is pretty odd.

MissMaple82 · 05/03/2023 09:04

Errrrr well yes, the positive test kind of gives it away!!! Ffs

Oneofakind1 · 05/03/2023 09:05

Eh? Yes you had it.

Oneofakind1 · 05/03/2023 09:05

You had symptoms and positive tests!

SellFridges · 05/03/2023 09:08

Last time I had it, I only tested positive very briefly. I think as a result loads of people have had it this winter and not caught the now brief testing positive window.

Scarbsbeach · 05/03/2023 09:09

Some friends of mine have just had a similar experience. Felt lousy with chills, aches, headache, stomach problems and the start of a cold. Tested the next day positive for Covid. Tested a couple of days later and now they’re negative but still feel unwell.

Every day this week their workmates in a fairly large office are beginning to test positive then negative a few days later. It seems like a shorter lasting infection which stops showing on the test, but it still takes a while to start feeling better.

So perhaps a new variation, or (whisper this) maybe vaccinations are doing their job. 🤷‍♀️

MajorCarolDanvers · 05/03/2023 09:11

2 x positive Covid tests

Of course you had it 😳

Brrrrrrrrrrrr · 05/03/2023 09:12

The two positive tests kinda say you definitely have had it.

liveforsummer · 05/03/2023 09:13

It's highly likely you had covid - it's rampant AND you tested positive TWICE. No idea why you are questioning it, or even why it actually matters?

maltesersarethedevil · 05/03/2023 09:14

What difference does it make really wether it was or it wasn't 🤷🏼‍♀️

Justalittlebitduckling · 05/03/2023 09:17

We have this exactly at the moment, and we have covid. Completely different from the first time we had it when we were all much more
unwell. Current variant seems to be a bad cough, cold and loads of mucus for most people.

NomadicSpirit · 05/03/2023 09:18

Those testing kits get a lot of flack, but two positives means you most certainly had COVID.

fairtrauchled · 05/03/2023 09:21

Yup,2 positive tests mean you had Covid.
I've heard you can get false negative results with lateral flow tests but not false positive.

liveforsummer · 05/03/2023 09:32

Fwiw I've woken up with the same symptoms- not going to bother doing a test as I'm expected in work regardless and I'll avoid going in to others homes as I would with any other illness that left me feeling like this, until my symptoms have eased. Why does it matter whether it's covid or not?

SilverGlitterBaubles · 05/03/2023 09:32

I feel like this today OP, headache, achy, cold but wouldn't occur to me to test for Covid. Are people still testing?

TenoringBehind · 05/03/2023 09:38

The two positive tests suggest yes. Not sure why you doubt it really.

hope you feel better soon

OneTC · 05/03/2023 09:44

1 positive = very high statistical probability that you don't have it.

2 positives = vanishingly small chance that you don't

MoreSleepPleasee · 05/03/2023 09:44

What the actual F 🤣 I'm not even voting. You had 2 positives tests what are you on about?!

MoreSleepPleasee · 05/03/2023 09:45

100% wrong. Many get false positives.

BashirWithTheGoodBeard · 05/03/2023 09:47

I thought the problem with the LFTs was the tendency to give false negatives rather than false positives?

quinceh · 05/03/2023 09:48

I tested positive last weekend & it was gone by Weds. I was surprised too.

Issues with both.

MoreSleepPleasee · 05/03/2023 09:50

Even though I know they can give false positives I'd still always say assume you have it if you get a positive test though.

Jimboscott0115 · 05/03/2023 09:52

It's really common to get symptoms at the back end of having COVID OP, you likely had it a week or so before but just didn't display any symptoms, hence didn't test and weren't aware.
