To not send DS2 to school tomorrow

Reposting as I need to know what to do ASAP

Youngest child has an appointment at 9:45 tomorrow, and will have to leave the house at 7ish to get a 7:30 train.

Older DS is 14, and the middle is 6. They go to the same school but they're different buildings right next to each other. DS1 usually leaves the house early to get an earlier bus then I take DS2. Tomorrow I obviously can't do this and have no one to take him, a friend was going to but their DC is unwell so won't be at school tomorrow.

I'm unsure whether to send him with DS1, mainly as DS1 has some silly behaviour and will more than likely also be with his friends which makes him more silly. He also doesn't go to school sometimes which he hasn't for a while after I threatened to start taking him myself but it is a possibility that he won't go again.

WIBU to keep DS2 off tomorrow?

Could you take him into school after the appt? But I’d keep him off for it.

GrilledCheeseTomatoSoup · 02/03/2023 21:24

Surely if DS1 didn't take him, he'd have to look after him for the day. Would he do that? Or do you think he'd go off and leave him alone?

can he take the later bus (that you take usually) with DS2 so he won't be with his mates and no incentive to mess around?

Pinkypurplecloud · 02/03/2023 21:26

Personally I wouldn’t leave a six year old in the charge of an irresponsible 14 year old I didn’t trust. So I guess it depends what you mean by “silly”.

If you really have nobody else you can ask (I assume no DH or DP is in the picture - what about another school friend?) and the appointment is absolutely essential then I guess you have no choice but to take DC2 with you.

Get dc1 to take later bus with dc2. Suppose it depends if you trust him.

Take the boys to the appointment with you. Then to school afterwards. Without extra help what else can you do?
Or taxi from hospital to school for Dc14 and DC 6 - if possible.

What's going to be worse? Trusting DS6 to DS14? Or having DC6 with you at the youngest's appointment?

Keep ds2 off. I wouldn't be able to relax and concentrate at the appointment worrying if ds1 had took ds2 in and they were safe.

It's one day, he's 6 it's not going to affect his education. 😁
