Giving up breast feeding

Ds is 6 weeks old. Hv thinks he's got cows protein allergy. Has all the symptoms. Gp appointment tomorrow.
We just introduced a bottle so others can feed while I rest or get things done.
If gp agrees it's cows allergy should I just give up bf for the formula they'll prescribe while I give up dairy then move to pumping.
I know it's a bad thought but how expensive is being dairy free?

I'm running on 45 minutes sleep atm so judgement is cloudy.

So thought I'd update. After a solid 48 hours of doing nothing but scream and sleep ds had his 1st gavisgon for reflux. He has slept for 2 hours and no wriggling or grunting. I actually feel human for now. Fingers crossed its just reflux causing the issue.
Really looking forward to having my happy chappy back

Mum of two allergy babies here- do not be fobbed off. Reflux has a cause - it disappeared without any meds being needed for both of mine when I cut out the allergens in my diet.

As others have said - it's very fast to improve if it is dairy. My DS was totally different in 24 hours - slept, actually slept.

In your shoes, I'd try being dairy free and carry on feeding. Gaviscon is a great interim solution but if you have to give at every feed it's a complete pain in the arse.
