To ask about Fishy Facebook Accounts

Out of pure nosiness, I looked up a girl I was in school with on Facebook. She's British. Looking at her Facebook account it seems that everyone who likes/comments on her Facebook pics are from a completely different nationality - and a completely different continent. at that - e.g think all Argentinian for example - when she lives in the UK - and they all say how lovely she looks in a very effusive way. No British friends at all - every single one from a completely different continent / culture/language. Also, she was very unpopular in school and college. It really does seem as though she's bought fb friends. Has anyone experienced seeing something like this?

Sounds like she set up an account many years ago, let it go dormant and it's been hacked

Sounds like she's either making money off men or someone else is catfishing people with her account.

I wonder sometimes how it works. Someone on a private FB group posted an ad to services within the industry I work in . The ad was ridiculous and implausible. We all had a good laugh at it. However there were quite a few ( maybe 100+) testimonies/recommendations from people under the post saying that this product was the best invention since sliced bread.
I clicked on a few out of interest to see who could be so gullible. The majority only had a handful of friends, and unless they had the highest of privacy settings, none of these accounts were particularly active. Most of them very new accounts but a few circa 2017 or there abouts.

Can a company pay for bots to advertise their product? I'm
Guessing they can, but would be interested to know how it all works
