For context, they started in the role around 3 months ago. I'm a junior member of the team, and have been at the company for nearly 2 years.
They have joined and tried to shake things up, which I know is a good thing. It's a long-standing project, so I understand things can get a bit stale but the client is always really happy with the work we produce.
Since the project director joined, they have made a few changes that I find frustrating but don't think I can speak up for.
- On my project, the previous account director had signed off on it and it was sent to the client. The client came back with some minor pieces of feedback which I took in, and then the project director put in a meeting with me and they asked for the project to be taken in a completely different direction. So I did that, and then it went to the client and the client completely disagreed with the new direction, so I then had to undo the work and get it back to how it was. My manager then reviewed it, followed by the account director. Again, the account director comes back with some more feedback, so I put in a meeting with my manager and the account director to discuss it. All in all I wasted around 2 weeks of work to submit something that was basically the original.
- They are hugely unrealistic about deadlines, and it seems we are being pushed to deadlines way harsher than even needed. I'm not feeling comfortable with the work I'm sending out due to not having enough time. For example, on Friday I was working on a project that I received at 2pm. I reviewed it and sent my feedback by 4pm, the project manager wanted the person taking in my feedback to turn it around and for me to check it again so it could get sent out by 5pm. It was unrealistic, but they couldn't let it go so we sent it out in draft state which I think makes us look more unprofessional than sending it at 10am Monday morning. The quality control steps have just seemingly disappeared, with no one senior signing off on things before they are sent.
- I did a simple, unimportant task for the account that should take a couple of hours maximum, but the account director wants it taken in a new direction and has asked for things which will take hours to implement. It doesn't seem logical
AIBU or do I need to just give it more time to get used to working with a new director?
