Are you worried about the doctors strike

AINBU - if you are also worried
AIBU - not worried at all, all will be fine

I'm feeling really worried as my sister is due to have an operation on the strike date.

Why can’t the government just give them a pay rise. They all worked above and beyond for us in covid. I totally get it. Claps don’t pay bills but ultimately we are all suffering their ignorance

Because there isn't enough money to give them what they want. But there is enough money to pay locums and bank staff etc apparently. Hence my first point is null and void! You're right, they should just pay them properly.

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 25/02/2023 17:51

Yes I’m worried. My Dad’s currently an inpatient with oesophageal cancer. He needs all the help he can get.

Fiona7656 · 25/02/2023 17:53

Shocked that the majority of people on here who’ve voted aren’t bothered

I’m more worried about the impact of the constant chipping away at the NHS. I have seen first hand with ds and his care over the last 13 years just how much things are being stretched now and it’s unsafe.

I fully support those strikings to improve pay and conditions in the NHS.

ashapushapush · 25/02/2023 17:55

They work is a grossly understaffed and under resourced environment that puts patient safety at risk. They are striking for the sake of patients. They also deserve better pay.

Fiona7656 · 25/02/2023 17:57

I think it is morally wrong of the government to make them strike

what are they actually playing at? Why can’t Steve Barclay actually get off his arse and start talking to them

A yes I'm worried could be read as (and so I think they shouldn't strike). I think it's a bit too complex a question for a poll, so I wouldn't worry too much about the result.

CriticalAlert · 25/02/2023 18:12

Yup I am worried about the doctors strike. I'm even more worried about what the Tories are doing with their destruction of the NHS. We are going to have to fight for this or they'll take it

Tallie27 · 25/02/2023 18:14

Your poll asked if we were worried, and I answered no I'm personally not worried but that doesn't mean I don't want them to get a pay rise! I fully support the strikes and would prefer them not to happened, I think you're asking 2 very different questions.

ilovesooty · 25/02/2023 18:21

Like others I'm more concerned on a wider level about the government's wilful demolition of the NHS.

Victoriangirl1900 · 25/02/2023 19:15

Last sunday I had a boil that's started to get infected tried to get a doctors appointment for 3 days by the wednesday I ended up going to A&E my infected boiled started to cause cellulitis took 2 hours to be seen I'm on antibiotics since.

Botw1 · 25/02/2023 19:16

No I'm not worried about the strikes

Im worried about the destruction of the NHS.

The service is dire every day. Not just on strike days

mrshenny · 25/02/2023 20:38

I'm due a baby mid March and she's breech, so yeh, I'm worried. 🫣 I fully support the NHS strikes in general though and think the government need to pay up.

Toddlerteaplease · 25/02/2023 20:41

Nope. I worked the late one. (Nurse) royal non event. The consultants and seniors did all the jobs. (And were dry prof of them selves for cannulating and doing TTO's)

FoxInSocksSatOnBlocks · 25/02/2023 20:43

Yes I’m worried. So much for them having a “duty of care” and looking after their patients.

They're just selfish and people will die as a result of their actions.

MarshaBradyo · 25/02/2023 20:45

Not personally but I feel sorry for those who are impacted

BubziOwl · 25/02/2023 20:50

I'm worried both for reasons related to personal circumstances and also just worried for people in general.

I'm very angry that we're all being put in this position. I do not blame them for striking one bit, the government are an absolute disgrace.

The MPs are selfish, not the junior doctors

People are undoubtedly dying on any normal day as a result of the government's destruction of the NHS. Don't you think that the government has any duty of care?

DoesItMakeYouFeelBetter · 25/02/2023 21:00

I’m not worried personally because it won’t affect me - I can’t get a doctors appointment for love nor money! In that respect the strike can only have a positive effect.

BigMadAdrian · 25/02/2023 21:04

Doctors are disgustingly underpaid.

nocoolnamesleft · 25/02/2023 21:14

I am worried that I don't know how we'll cover our department for emergencies. But that just shows how fucking vital junior doctors are. And they have been shafted.

NHS staff - simultaneously too important to strike yet not important enough to pay properly...

There is only one group of people who are selfish here and it certainly isn't the doctors.
