NHS interview if you're off sick with stress

I have applied for other jobs as I am not happy where I am - I have asked for support and a reduction in hours and I am being ignored - I have started to apply for other jobs.
In the meantime if I were to go off sick, how do I stand going for interviews?

NHS ask for number of days sickness absence (usually for past 2 years) as part of a reference.
So a prolonged absence of any sort will be flagged and it's likely a referral to occ health would follow to fully assess this and your fitness for work. So I'd just be prepared to be upfront about the reasons for your absence with occ health and steps you are taking to get well.

Good luck

So it wouldn’t be an automatic no, it would be assessed by occupational health. That’s fine and I would be honest. The actual job was fine, it has just been triggered by one person who is new. And I kept going for months.
Would you bring up in interview?

Out of interest, why is it discrimination not to offer someone with a poor sickness record a job?

Most employers would run a mile.

It would be if the time off related to a disability rather than illness, as that would be disability discrimination, and especially if it could be proved that the time off related to the employer not making reasonable adjustments. For example if a person has severe arthritis and struggled to make it in, but could do their job equally well from home, but were forced to come in and that aggravated their arthritis to the point they went off sick.

It comes down to
Does the person have a disability
Did they make their employer aware
Did the employer make the appropriate referrals for support, and follow any reasonable suggestions made to support the disability

Sadly my stuff does relate to both, disability and the company ignoring previous reasonable adjustments

@Hallelujah2020 I wouldn't bring it up at interview. If you are offered the job then they've already decided they want you so you are in a stronger position. I'd just wait and see what happens and be very truthful with Occ health about the reasons, what help you've received and what you're doing to help yourself
