Worrying about my vaccine and babies vaccine! Tetanus

I missed my vaccines at high school as had dropped out, the health visitor picked up on this and said I could get my missed doses.

The vaccine people have booked me in and baby at same time, baby is getting her first vaccines which think might include tetanus jab etc.
I am also getting tetanus jab. As I am breastfeeding would this have any affect on baby? Ie as I’m getting and she is also getting!

it sounds silly but I remember in pregnancy they encouraged me to get covid jab as it passes antibodies on- I’m sure they said!

Normally people would have had their tetanus in school so wouldn’t be in this situation possibly? May be wrong so just want to check agh

(tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis)

You'll be fine and so will she - crack on and have it. Nothing worse than an anti vaxxer- please go and get it sorted and protect you both.

They should be able to advise you but I was tenatus only lasts so long so it's common to get it multiple times. I was given it while pregnant

Ah perfect so far. As I’m keen for us to have but didn’t want to overload as they always say about mum passing antibodies so was worrying over side effects/too much for her

It will be fine, but you can ask the question of the professional on the day if you wish.

Being pregnant and breastfeeding is different btw. You share blood via the placenta when pregnant.

If you have had your 'Whooping cough vaccine' in pregnancy it also includes tetanus anyway. That vaccine is called Boostrix IV and is a 4 in one vaccine.

the immunity it provides your baby lasts until they are old enough to be given their own version of the same vaccine

Sorry, I realised I wrote that clumsily - not like one single blood supply, but breastfeeding and pregancy/placenta transfer is not the same.

Need to ask a biologist for more detail!
