Define "a few weeks"

If someone (who has been leading you round the houses for almost a year), says something will be done and you will be updated, "in a few weeks", what's the shortest time you can reasonably chase up?

I feel it was suitably vague for a reason Grin

(and AIBU for emailing dead on a fortnight)

I'd say a few is between three and seven.

Igenix4 · 23/02/2023 17:43

More than 2, no more than 6.

Nooo, surely anything after 4 verges into month territory?!

3 or 4 weeks

Carddeclined · 23/02/2023 17:44

3

TyneTeas · 23/02/2023 17:44

3-6

Anything less would be in a week or so or in the next couple of weeks.

Anything more you would start to measure in months

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 23/02/2023 17:44

3-4

POTC · 23/02/2023 17:45

3 weeks
2 is a couple, 4 is a month

Carddeclined · 23/02/2023 17:45

Context?

Poppyblush · 23/02/2023 17:45

2-3 weeks max

Choconut · 23/02/2023 17:47

3 weeks. But if they've been taking the piss for a year then you might want to cut your losses.

Thethingswedoforlove · 23/02/2023 17:49

A few weeks is more than 3. Probably fewer than 10. Definitely a fortnight js sooner than they meant.

lolecky · 23/02/2023 17:51

Ah seems pretty unanimous not to be a fortnight.

Context is an ongoing complaint which, honestly, is taking the piss at this point. We have been going round in circles for nearly a year.

Last update they said they would sort it within the mentioned time frame. I had it in my mind I'd wait until whenever that was (was unsure!) then would go down official routes.

13 days in partner submitted a blistering complain to the council anyway!

A few: More than 2, less than 6, I'd say.

RoseMartha · 23/02/2023 17:55

Three to six

Coffeellama · 23/02/2023 17:56

2-3 weeks. 6 weeks is a month or so

Intelligenthair · 23/02/2023 17:57

Two is a couple
A few is 3 to me.

ApolloandDaphne · 23/02/2023 17:57

I would say a few weeks is two weeks, no more than three.

zurala · 23/02/2023 17:58

3-4, is a few. 5-7 is several.

IncompleteSenten · 23/02/2023 17:58

More than a fortnight, less than a month.

lolecky · 23/02/2023 17:59

zurala · 23/02/2023 17:58

3-4, is a few. 5-7 is several.

Surely not?

If you said an author had written "several books" I'd think 2-3.

Unsatisfactorily vague though!

More than a fortnight, less than a month.

Hmm in my mind this makes the most sense, although I feel it's totally subjective

3 or 4. 2 is a couple of.

I think only after 8 weeks then it becomes a couple of months. What's six weeks? It's not about a month, but it's definitely 'a few weeks'. 3-7 sounds right to me. 2-3 weeks is a couple of weeks not 'a few'.

I'd suggest if they've been mucking you about for a year then you're going to be closer to 7 weeks than 2! Will irritating make them faster or slower? When dh nags, I tend to take longer on purpose!

Grin

I suspect, based on my history with them, they won't ever solve the issue unless forced to.

I think if we fast fowarded to six weeks from now, I still wouldn't have an email response.

In previous cycles this has led to me emailing a couple of times to ask for an update, and then we go round again.
