Going to Pre school with very greasy hair

Would you?

I've been ill on and off for ages (bad cough, cold, ears blocked etc) the whole house has. I’ve just been getting through the days until it passes.
Dropped Dd this morning after her being on holidays from school.
Currently sat/lay down on the sofa not wanting to move.
I have to pick her up later, which involves going to the classroom inside, seeing other parents etc and the teacher often stops me for a chat. This morning was easier as I dropped her at the front part and escaped 🙈
My hair is long and needs a good wash, but I’m so tired. Would you go to school like this or force yourself to wash it?
Am I gross? 😫

Sorry that’s disgusting. If you can’t be bothered to do it yourself see if you can get a blow dry.

IfIGoThereWillBeTrouble · 23/02/2023 12:53

I’d wash it, not to make it look better but because I always feel better and more awake with freshly washed hair

Inacoldhousewithnoeggsorveg · 23/02/2023 12:56

@Eyerollcentral 😳Go to the effort of going to the hairdressers when ill, when it’s hard to get off the sofa 🤷🏻‍♀️

i washed it, feel better and wasn’t as bad as I though, just wasn’t looking forward to drying it etc as it’s long. Now slumped back down. No make up though and I really do look like shit 🙈
I envy those who can go barefaced and look good/ok still

It’s not “disgusting” by any stretch of the imagination. Are you always so dramatic? 🙄username checks out though 🙄

Get a blow dry is brilliant. What a response.

EllieM27 · 23/02/2023 13:21

Glad you feel better! I always like a good shower when I’m sick. Though I also have long hair and if I skip a wash I’ve been known to put it in a pony tail, stick my head under the faucet, and shampoo the roots on the top and sides. Then it only takes a couple of minutes to blow dry the roots and it’s all fresh again. Worth a try next time if you find yourself in a similar situation. 😄

Mrsjayy · 23/02/2023 13:24

Stick it up put some dry shampoo or hairspray on, it's not the washing it but you have to dry it and who can be arsed with that when you're ill.

CharlotteRose90 · 23/02/2023 13:26

Urgh the last thing I want to do when I’m sick is have a shower. I’ve just recovered from having 10 days of having covid and I could barely leave the sofa or bed. Last thing I’m doing is having a shower no chance. Put dry shampoo on or Chuck it into a bun and have a little sleep.

Mrsjayy · 23/02/2023 13:28

I see you washed it, but you are in no way "disgusting" or "gross" because you hadn't washed your hair in a few days.

NamelessTemptress01 · 23/02/2023 13:37

I wouldn’t bother, I do care about my appearance but when I’m ill I couldn’t give a fuck. No one will care or even notice

user01082312345 · 23/02/2023 13:51

I haven't washed my hair in almost two weeks (I shower every evening once DS is in bed, but I haven't had the energy to wash my hair). I simply tie it back in a bun each day. Believe me, no one is going to judge you. You're a mum. As long as your kid is dressed in clean clothes and she has been fed and watered, you're doing great!

Rosio · 23/02/2023 13:54

I would have dry shampood the top and worn a scarf that covers my hair, doubt any other mums will notice what your hair looks like they'll be too busy getting their kids and Also speaking to teachers

I dunno about this, if you’ve the e very to shower then I don’t know why on earth you can’t take a few minutes to wash your hair, mum or not, unless perhaps you have a newborn or are ill. Get it cut short if you can’t be arsed to dry it or style it but I don’t get not washing it once every 2-3 days.

Wishawisha · 23/02/2023 14:16

A hat? Lucky the temperature seems to have dropped again so you could easily get away with a woollen hat. If not, baseball cap?

Wishawisha · 23/02/2023 14:19

Shudders at the thought of dry shampoo though.

Yeah, I find greasy hair disgusting. Do you think it’s lovely?

Sharkpenis · 23/02/2023 14:43

This is me every morning. I wear a hoody/coat. Wash it when i get home from school run

JessePinkmansgirl · 23/02/2023 14:46

Put a Woolley hat on or baseball cap.

StrawberryJam4Ever · 23/02/2023 14:50

Wash it, it’ll make you feel better. Don’t start putting it up & spraying it with anything, as it looks worse. I sat behind someone on the train the other day who did this, not only did it stink but there was all bits in her hair too 🤢

Nobody thinks it's lovely but the OP is unwell and you are suggesting she goes to the hairdresser.
Sorry hun you're trying too hard.

Actually I have a chronic illness that sometimes means washing my own hair is beyond me, that’s why I suggested getting a blow dry, as that’s what I do when I can’t do it myself. The OP isn’t at death’s door. It’s not taxing to sit at a sink and then get your hair dried.

20viona · 23/02/2023 15:09

Stick a hat on.

I am well aware of how taxing it is or isn't going to the hairdressers it's a favourite passtime of mine. You obviously aren't struggling to get off the settee with your chronic illness the OP was.
Do you eat cake while you are in there?

CherLloydbyCherLloyd · 23/02/2023 15:11

Skinnermarink · 23/02/2023 12:11

Hat if you really can’t bear to wash it, stale greasy hair is stinky.

🙄

It really depends on hair type - my hair is fine and it needs washed every day or it’s clamped onto my skull like latex. It’s most definitely not stinky.
