My son is 1 but ever since he was born my mother has never bought his size which was fine whilst he was younger but as he’s reaching an age where he stays in a size for longer it’s just annoying.

hes now 1 but she just picks up anything she thinks is nice it could be a hat… for a 5 year old and clothes in 2-3 or 3-4years I think she just doesn’t look at the size and if I point it out she says he’ll grow in to it.

am I being ungrateful I understand she wants to spoil her only grandson but I don’t have unlimited space for clothes and it’s just inconvenient

Have you told her mum thanks but these clothes don’t fit him. Ask them to keep anything that he can’t wear now at her place

Like @Eyerollcentral says, I'd also ask her to store the clothes. I would run out of space quickly otherwise.
I always think one size up is a good idea. But not something to wear in few years.

Personally I'm grateful for any clothes I get given, especially with how expensive things are right now, but I can see it must be inconvenient to store things for 3 or 4 years! I'd definitely say thanks very much but ask her to keep anything she buys at her house until it's the right size.

How much is she using? If it's enough to cause issues (really more than a box worth). Then, I would ask her to keep the stuff until it fits him.

She'll probably remember yo buy the right size once she realises how much space it takes up.

Unless she is buying a set of clothes every week, I can't see why it's difficult to store until DC grows into them? If you are very short of space ask her to keep them and bring them out when they will fit. If she sees a drawer full of kiddie clothes, she may rein it back in

I get you! My ex MIL bought my newborn two shiny black fake Adidas tracksuits for age 12-24 AND 2-3 years! This pattern continued and we lived in a small house. I just gave everything to charity as it was almost all hideous. Just kept the odd thing for the rare occasion we saw them

Grizzledstrawberry · 22/02/2023 10:28

Says something like, 'Aren't these lovely, bit big for the baby though, ill pass them on to Janes little boy, they will fit him perfectly'.

She might get the hint then 😂
