Leave family GC?

I'm in a facebook groupchat with my DH and some of his family members, recently all they seem to do on this groupchat is argue.

Would it be rude of me to leave the groupchat? I barely ever talk on it, and when i do, it's usually MIL telling me something that she could text me about herself, it's never something that needs to be announced for everyone to see (though it doesn't bother me, because if it's private, she won't do this) it's just, i generally don't use it much.

I mute it quite a lot since they're constantly messaging back and forth and calling at absurd hours sometimes. However, with the constant petty arguments on there (none of which i'm involved in) I feel like maybe I should just remove myself from it? But I don't know if that would cause problems or be rude? Should I just mute them until i decide to unmute?

Opinions?

Tell them you've got too many social media groups and are rationalising/ having a clear out... giving them up for Lent....

Just mute it. What’s the point in leaving? A muted chat makes no difference at all to your life whereas leaving it might look rude and cause animosity. Seems like a futile reason to cause drama in my opinion.

I was considering leaving my family group chat today for very different reasons but decided against it given the inevitable fall-out.

Can you just mute it? (So that you don't see/hear all the updates but the rest pr the group is not actually aware of this)

i was thinking that was probably the most reasonable way around the situation, so i'll probably just mute it until i decide to unmute. thank you!

Honestly I would just keep it on mute. I am in a family thread which basically is used for the odd funny picture or some family photos. Two members of the group left and it caused a temporary fallout as one left when someone else posted a picture of their grandchild and another when someone posted a picture of their cat. I keep it on mute and flick through it ever few days in case there is something I need to know it posted.
