To be so fucking worried about this

Just want to start off by saying I don’t usually have health anxiety and I’m not usually a worried person, but I’ve managed to worry myself silly about this and can’t seem to shake off the worry. If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it.

im worried I have a pituitary tumour. I know the chances that I do are tiny and it’s very very unlikely, but I can’t shake off the worry. I’ve got irregular periods (usually 4-6 a year), male pattern baldness (bald patches and a residing hairline to the side of my widows peak), tiredness, horrific headaches and vomiting, sinus pain without actually having sinusitis/toothache, lots of body hair (chin, sideburns, chest, belly button). Other symptoms too but these are most of the main ones

at first the doctor thought it could be PCOS but they ruled that out because my blood test was fine and a scan showed I didn’t have it.

I asked my doctor for a test in case it’s a pituitary problem and they said no and that it’s very unlikely and some people just have weird periods like I do and it’s normal. Especially since I’ve had this problem for 10 years now so they said it won’t be anything serious. They said it’s a tiny tiny tiny chance it’s that and it doesn’t warrant more tests.

like I said, I don’t usually have health anxiety and I know it’s very unlikely to be that, but I still feel so worried about it and I can’t afford any private tests for reassurance.

anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance x

The endocrinologist you quoted literally said you can be diagnosed with PCOS based on your symptoms

Yeah, and I was asking if it matters that my scan for pcos showed no cysts or problems since the doctor I saw said if there’s no cysts or signs of pcos on the scan and ultrasound then it’s not pcos. I’m not doubting anyone I’m just confused that’s all and trying to understand it. Not sure why some people are being so sarky on here

I'd say perimenopause OP, what age are you?

I’m 22, I really hope it’s not that! Can it start this young?

You don't need to have cysts to be diagnosed with PCOS, as was previously explained (look up the criteria mentioned).

I looked it up and it said you need 2 of the following- too much androgen (which my blood test showed I don’t have), cysts/large overies on ultrasound (which I also don’t have) and problems with ovulation- that’s the only thing I have. 1/3. I’m not doubting people’s advice but not sure why you’re being sarky with me for being confused.

The androgen criteria is fulfilled by your physical symptoms.

Polycystic ovaries were only recognized as a typical manifestation of PCOS during the 2003 Rotterdam conference. Two out of the three features of PCOS are required for a diagnosis in the revised criteria:

Oligomenorrhea (irregular menstrual periods) or amenorrhea (absence of menstrual periods)

Hyperandrogenism (based on clinical (signs on the body) and/or biochemical signs (hormone levels in the blood))
Polycystic ovaries (on the ultrasound)

I don’t mean to pile on, but I have PCOS, was a slim size 8 or 10 until I hit 50, never had painful periods, no cysts showed on scan. I am however v v hairy and only 3 or 4 periods a year. Needed medical intervention to conceive. Your GP isn’t great at least not in this area!

Ah OK, sorry, I'd hope not OP, am pretty sure now other posters have given good advice, hope you get sorted 👍

Do you mind me asking if you were having symptoms or problems before getting diagnosed?

I felt like I was menopausal with nausea, I was mid to late 30's
