To think so many people on public transport are utterly gross?

Before I get slated, I use public transport to work, and into town, and to most places really. But AIBU to say that so many who use it are just gross with no social skills? is this just reflective of modern day selfish society, where no one gives a rats arse about anyone but themselves?

You get people coughing and sneezing with no effort to cover their mouths, people munching on food that stinks or crisps that crunch usually with their mouths open, people that talk and muck about SO LOUDLY that you can hear them over headphones, people vaping, people on their phones with speakers because they are SO IMPORTANT, people with their manky feet on the seats.......sorry, but why can't people just sit their quietly? it's absolutely vile.

Agree with most of your post bar eating (except with mouth open, that is gross). I’m pregnant and if I’m hungry, I’m hungry. I’m not waiting 40 mins till I get home.

I’ll never forget being on a bus in London and dodging clippings from a woman cutting her nails! Absolutely gross!

I sat next to a woman who filed her nails for the whole rail journey. Got a good burst of Schadenfreuder when she got off with white powder all over her black velvet trousers.

So many 'people' are so scummy with their behaviour and they are dragging up the next scummy generation.
Talk about race to the bottom of the evolutionary tree, but then some never leave the base of it.

I've recently started commuting using public transport and have noticed similar so always have a mask and sanitizer handy. What I find worse is how bad people smell!

Totally agree. Had one on the train this morning opposite me with her dirty trainers up on the seat, coughing without covering her mouth. Last night I had one behind me eating something incredibly strong smelling, so I moved. Pet hate is people not taking bags off seats when it's busy, I always comment loudly as I pass.

And don't get me started on constant loud sniffing and snorting , which usually seems to be men. Just blow your fucking nose!! I've muttered that more than a few times. If it's a tic or something that cannot be helped then I understand, but it's many people just being disgusting. I have misophonia which doesn't help.

Oh and I work in the civil service and we have a very large set of cubicles. The amount of toilets I go in that haven't been flushed properly is insane. It's Vile.

I was on the bus a while ago and a man behind me was shaving his hair with an electric clipper. I was completely aghast. Every time I turned around to see where the loud buzzing was coming from, he would turn it off and then on again as soon as I turned back around. Hair everywhere. WTF?!?

Also had a woman in front of me eating a garlic mayo kebab at 10 in the morning on the hottest day of the year - bus is absolutely roasting and she's smacking and slobbering on a disgusting kebab. First of all, where do you get a kebab at 10am?? Second of all, garlic mayo??

Bank Station- a man clipping his nails on the platform.. ffs couldn't it wait till he was home?
One of a few incidents that evening ( backwards dancing/ear splitting music on a speaker/ angry conversation with himself) I was so glad to get off..

Loud shouting football hooligans drinking cans on the train and then leaving them on their tables for someone else to clean up.

In my local Iceland last week,man restocking the freezers coughed and spat into the sellophane wrapping he had just taken off some frozen food.Yuk,I walked straight out.

Oh yeah @Lottapianos i was in Glasgow John Lewis last month and there was poo all over the floor by the sinks, someone had clearly trailed it out on their shoe, I mean boak! Never known that I n the women’s toilet

And someone had to clean that up .

I agree OP it’s everywhere now. I feel like never getting on an aeroplane again. We were on a flight from Croatia about a month ago. The plane was absolutely filthy. There was no air conditioning switched on and it was as hot as hell. The toilets were absolutely disgusting. They had obviously not been cleaned at the previous turn around. The smell was revolting. Most of the passengers looked drunk and like they needed a good wash. They were coughing and hacking all over other people. Needless to say we both ended up with COVID. It was our first holiday for five years. I don’t think I can ever face going abroad again!
