Literally just seemed to appear overnight. A small, hardish slightly tender lump at top of outer labia under the skin. Not a Bartholin's cyst as it's too high up.

I know vulval cancer is uncommon in women under 50 (in my 40s) but worried it's some kind of horrible secondary or that I'm one of the unlucky women under 50.

I know no one can diagnose this on mumsnet and I'm going to call the gp tomorrow, just wondered if anyone else had had this and it turned out to be nothing as am really panicking.

Had something similar and went to gp’s turned out to be nothing to worry about.

Throwncrumbs · 19/02/2023 15:09

A bartholins cyst can only appear in the bartholins gland, they can’t appear everywhere!

This. Bartholins glands are closer to the vagina than the clitoris.

Chocolatetoastforbreakfast · 19/02/2023 16:12

No, I know it’s not Bartholins. It’s too far up.

Get these all the time! Don't worry 😊

Ilovemycar77 · 19/02/2023 16:20

Exactly what I tend to get. I am in peri menopause stage and they tend to pop
up for me every now and then all of a sudden.
they do go down after a day or too, but can feel very bruised and tender until they do so.
Convinced it’s all hormonal.

I’ve had enough of them over the years. They eventually come to a head and burst. I had one once, the size of a Cadbury cream egg, ‘king agony. But they go.

Ive only had to go to the gp once when one turned really nasty.
Don’t poke it and it will be ok. I can guarantee it’s not cancer.

So unfair 🤣

Mine never do that... they just go away

Magenta65 · 19/02/2023 18:14

Had this a few months ago, was just a boil/ingrown hair that cured itself with some hot baths and some antiseptic. Cleared up fully within 10 days or so

eatdrinkandbemerry · 19/02/2023 18:18

It will probably be a cyst or ingrown hair.I've had a few pop up overnight

Arthurflecksfacepaint · 19/02/2023 18:43

I get these on and off all the time.
Well, at least a few a year.

Mostly non painful. But sometimes quite sore. i forget about them and then they are gone when I remember to check.

geogrump · 19/02/2023 10:46

I've had a few 'over night' vulval cancers, they've all been ingrown hairs 😂

This. And I know others that have. Don’t worry.

Callipygion · 19/02/2023 19:16

Tight trousers that ‘cut’ and rub there nearly always give me one of those. I dab surgical spirit on (stings like mad) to draw to a head then squeeze! Ouch.

Bartholin's can appear everywhere. Cancer doesn't tend to crop up overnight.

Surely a Bartholin’s cyst can only appear at the Bartholins glands?

Ladyofthelake53 · 19/02/2023 19:24

Dont panic, it could be a sebaceous cyst, i had one there and had it lanced it was fine

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 19/02/2023 19:32

I had this the other month completely freaked out left it a couple of days to see if it went down it hadn't made a doctors appointment it was a cyst and went away on its own. The panic (I have health anxiety) was worse than the bloody lump!!

Fightingtobepositive · 12/05/2023 19:55

How did this turn out op. I have similar and am an absolute wreck xx
