For those of us fed up of the sad selection on offer!

The left are toxic, the right are toxic. I want a pragmatic ‘centre’ party. A bit like the early days of New Labour. A focus on average working people and families, long-term plans for the environment, healthcare and cost of living/housing. No identity politics twattery, no TWAW, no taking the knee type gestures. Straight talking people who can be honest with the public about what is and isn’t possible rather than offering the moon on a stick then failing to deliver it. Standards and transparency and an oath to resign the moment they’re caught lying about their tax affairs. A leader with gravitas that doesn’t look like he or she is about to burst into tears at any moment Kier or have a constant lame grin like they can’t really believe they’ve been made Head Boy and are enjoying wearing the badge Rishi. Maybe a sort of British Barack Obama?

What about you?

Your party sounds wonderful OP.

I'd like to add ...

Permanent, trained jurors which is the norm in some other countries.

An end to speculative energy companies that hoard the billions and trillions whilst an 85 year old has to choose between warmth or food.

An end to multi-property owning landlords that charge far too much and over and above mortgage repayments.

An end to the buy-to-let mortgages.

An end to water companies being allowed to pump shite into our fragile waterways for decades to come. In fact water and energy should be nationalised.

Teaching Assistants should be properly salaried and not pro rata. Most TAs don't even earn enough to pay tax!

Free school meals for all children up to end of Yr13.

Park keepers numbers to be massively increased. Local wardens to be employed with legal powers to pound the streets.

All houses to be built with solar panels, insect/bird nesting and insulated as a normal pre-requisite.

MPs to live in a central , moderately decorated block of flats , for free, whilst sitting in parliament and to only claim for a PA's salary and stationery expenditure.

More support for families (to allow one parent to not work for longer)
More support for family carers (an aging population is going to be an issue)
Rejoin EU
Radical reform of NHS and social care
More investment in education and teachers
Refund of uni fees for doctors, nurses, teachers etc after 5 years of service and a scheme to incentivise other employers to pay off their graduate employees' student loans, as they are making use of them.
Work towards car free city centres (inc. better public transport)
Ban fireworks
More control of dog breeders
Better policing - more effort to stop drugs and youth crime etc.
Simplification of the tax system
Raise personal allowance to equal minimum wage and do away with tax credits etc. to incentivise work
Increase the IHT threshold as it barely covers the price of the average home now and creates a lot of bureaucracy.
Easier planning system to allow house building on all brownfield sites (big and small)
More environmental focus - ban all single use products. Drastically reduce packaging waste etc. Reduce dependance on oil, coal etc and encourage investment in green industries.

I could go on and on!

I believe in a smaller state, less regulation, etc but we need to tax the very wealthy more, including corporations.

The Misophonia Ministers.

When they are leading the country everyone has to shut the fuck up and not make any unnecessary noise at all. Including their barking dogs, screaming kids and shit motorbikes.

Yes.

Also ( I know this isn't party political but)

Get rid of the pantomime that is PM Questions. Plus the general point scoring, haranguing in the House of Commons rather than an adult debate about how politicians can actually make the Country a little better.

Recipe for debauchery and affairs!

I'd like to present to you: the SDP. Sill alive, still kicking, and pretty much ticking all of OP's boxes.

Circlesandtriangles · 19/02/2023 19:19

a Party that invests in public services, brings in free education and grants for nurses, teachers in return for a commitment to work for the NHS/schools for say 5 years. That prioritises womens health and puts maternity provision and choices and early years funding at the top of their agenda. That processes asylum applications fairly and promptly and tackles hate crimes. That tackles violence against women. I want a half female cabinet.

no more sticking plasters - proper green energy long term plan. Better relations with Europe. Incentives for new businesses.

no more cronyism, peers, back handers.

id love a British Obama. A leader we could be proud of, not ashamed and embarrassed by.

it's both lovely and depressing to think about!
