Have to apply for pip for autistic son

Hello very sorry I’m posting here for traffic. I’m not good with forms and getting all stressed. My ASD son has recently turned 16 and been on DLA since he was diagnosed at 5. I now have to apply for pip due to his age and I’ve been reading on the NAS forum that it’s not necessarily an automatic thing he’ll get PIP.
Has anyone got any experience of this where it was denied? Does anyone have any advice please I’m panicking a bit

Tbh I found pip easier than dla as the differences now are much more apparent. Have you a carers association they help with forms here

I found it seamless. Get help with the form though as it is awful to complete.

Local Citizens Advice will probably have someone who is an expert at PiP forms, or other charities often do too. Definitely get help with it.

Me too. DS gets more pip than he did dla.

I found a really good guide online for filling in the form on disabilityrightsuk and another on blesma.

Ours was fortunately very easy. We didn't have an assessment either (wouldn't cope with it) but we did have lots of evidence.

Hi, my best advice would be to pay for membership to Benefits and Work online. I think it's about £20 a year, though it may have gone up. They have so much information to help you.
Make sure if you get turned down, that you write for a mandatory reconsideration, and answer each point they've made, referring back to what you said on the original form.
If all else fails, go to Tribunal, they turn most claims over as they know the DWP are just hoping you won't bother appealing

@Needtoapplyforpip as @Jenn3112 said, please go to CAB, there is a method of completing PIP forms, I am good at forms myself but there are specific things that DWP are looking for in replies. CAB know them inside out. :-)

My son's PIP application was much more straightforward than DLA and he got a higher award. The criteria for the mobility component make provision for someone who is physically fit but unable to go out without support.

But the forms are no fun, so get someone to help you if possible
