Best way to protect an account is to use 2FA

Used to be free with Twitter

Now it's going to be charged for.

Elon Musk just wants to destroy Twitter.

I need "computers for dummies" or something - seriously, if anyone has recommendations, I'd love to hear them. I have no idea what any of this means. I have 2fa on stuff - not Twitter - but a code is texted to my phone.

I also think my computer is running Windows 8 and don't know where to go from there. I just tried to download a CD to MP3 and it won't recognise CDs. I don't know the correct lingo.

so if anyone can suggest a book/paper guide I would be really grateful!

I switched over to Google Authenticator yesterday and Twitter give you one recovery code.

I can see why they're doing it, SMS costs them money to send, so it's just a loss for free accounts. It's not a big deal to switch.

Your Google account provides backup codes. Your Google authenticator doesn't.

For what I hope would be obvious reasons.

I never said it did, that was my whole point and why I mentioned authy. It’s export accounts only.
