Strange man ringing doorbell at this time of night

My doorbell just went off and someone was hammering the door, by the time I was out of bed it went again but when I got downstairs he was getting in car and driving off. Definitely don't know them, did get the reg and make of car.

Open your bedroom window next time, I always do this now day or night.
We are on the end house and used to get this alot and we've had quite a few incidents that have been very odd, my dog has a scary bark and doesn't take kindly to strangers so he's seen off a few oddballs. Never answer the door.

Which I think would be even more terrifying than a phantom curry 🤣

Rather than go downstairs switch lights on upstairs, open a window and yell at them. If it is anyone sinister you can attract attention of neighbours. Also lob something out the window that smashes, makes a loud noise. Advice given to me by an American friend years ago.

A woman home alone in America, posted this exact same scenario just the other day. Everyone commenting told her to either "call 911 immediately!" Or to take their gun and shoot him from an upstairs window 😳😳😳

You are definitely NBU to be freaking out. It's happened to me twice in the last few years in the early hours and my heart was hammering so hard I thought I was going to have a heart attack. But I would never answer the door at that time of night, I just opened the upstairs window above my front door and called down.

The first time it was the boys in blue who had the wrong house, they mistook my house for next door. The second time last year was a women who I had never seen before, out of her head on either booze or drugs, who when I called down proceeded to call me a fucking cunt several times very loudly whilst staggering about in the road and waking up a couple of my neighbours in the process. I had no idea why she was banging on my door until she turned up again the next day and it transpired she was also looking for the same bloke as the police, and had yet again mistaken my house for next door.

Both my house and next door are clearly numbered, but for some reason people seem to have problems telling the difference between the numbers.

I always make sure my door is double locked, with the chain on and bolted top and bottom.

I think things like this can shake you up because they wake you up with a jolt.

Happened us a couple of times in last house, pizza guy wrong house but almost same crescent name and door number same lol
