To think if you have test results the Doctor should ring you?

I've been told by text I need to speak to the Dr regarding my recent blood test and a 2nd text said I need to test repeating in 3 months.

I rang to speak to him as requested and was told I need to make a phone appointment. The screenshot is the image of my phone from me trying to get an appointment recently! 216 tries and still didn't get through! It's almost impossible to get one. So something is obviously wrong with my results but they won't tell me, won't give me an appointment and just say ring at 8.30 to try again.

AIBU to think if the Dr needs to speak to you about test results it should be down to them to give you a quick call between telephone consults rather than the onus be on the patient to book a whole appointment session to get the results? Especially when it's extremely hard to get an appointment?

NHS app shows test results but that bit needed switching on by the surgery.

It's shocking to read of the difficulties that people are having regarding GPs. I have to say that me and DH have had a totally different experience. DH had a blood test last year which threw up a slightly concerning result. Our GP phoned him to discuss and made him an appointment for the following day in the surgery with follow up x-ray.

In addition I've had abdominal discomfort recently, phoned GP who swung into action with surgery appointment, blood test and I'm just waiting for appointment to come through for non-urgent ultrasound. I phoned for my test result today but they emphasise that if anything comes up the GP will phone initially with follow up surgery appointments if required.

Our surgery is brilliant.

You are entitled to a copy of your results.

If your surgery has online access signup for this do you can view your results.

If it doesn't go into the surgery and ask them to print them out for you. If they refuse ask to speak to the practice manager. Mention GDPR and it being your data.

Personally I'd also speak to/complain to the practice manager about not being able to access an appt to discuss your results. At my GP they'd call you to book you in for the appt.

We also have online booking too so that would be an option.

It is possible to organise themselves more efficiently and offer a better service to patients.
