AIBU to be shocked at the potential recovery time from pneumonia?

Mid-sixties, previously healthy female other than mild allergic asthma. Pneumonia came out of the blue two weeks ago - I just managed to stay out of hospital: SATs went as low as 89% at one point.

Everything I'm reading re the recovery time is horrendous - between one and six months!!

Any encouraging recovery stories please?

No medical background here whatsoever but in my experience pneumonia appears to be very sneaky.

You are walking around feeling rough until very suddenly you are seriously ill, or dead.

It takes a lot of people and the numbers of respiratory deaths since Covid has really gone through the roof which has led a lot of doctors to suspect a weakening of the lungs by Covid, particularly pre Vac.

I am not medical but just repeating what I have been told by GP/consultant/nurse friends.

GP's in particular are keeping informal notes of trends right across Europe as they deal with post Covid patients.

Laboured breathing, tightness in your chest, being unable to take a deep breath and fill your lungs are symptoms to be concerned about.

The Floridix will help build you up afterwards.

Vitamin D with zinc was recommended to me to protect my immunity.

A silk scarf folded over your chestvunder your clothes was a trick my grandmother had which surprisingly my respiratory consultant also mentioned to me years ago.

Once you have had pneumonia and realise how quickly is can escalate, you tend to be watchful when you feel unwell.

Timely intervention with an antibiotic is key for me, so as not to allow it get in deep.

I chew the raw herb thyme as a very effective expectorant.

My pleurisy and scared lungs can be painful at times.

A hot water bottle pressed up against my back gives me enormous relief.

@SirVixofVixHall if you can get to a GP to have your chest listened to, I would.

If you can stomach the following, you could also try it.
Into a glass jar grate a couple of cloves of garlic, 2 teaspoons cheyenne pepper, ginger, turmeric, top with lots of honey.
Mix it up and take a teaspoon every day.
It really warms up your chest.
