What songs make you think "yes. I can do this. Look out world"?

When I was putting in a grievance at work (that I knew would end my career) I listened to Katy Perry's Roar a lot. About standing up for yourself and making people listen.

I also listened to Rachel Plattern and Fight Song. It's about knowing this will kick off and it'll be tough but that I'll be OK.

Mine are just positive & bouncy ones, but I love...
'Try Everything' by Shakira
'Best Day of my Life' by American Authors.

Perfect for situations when you need to be brave, smile & give it a go.

SpainwithouttheS · 15/02/2023 23:49

One Republic - I Lived - The story behind that song is about Cystic Fibrosis & my child has that so when I listen to it on an off day, it reminds me that if my lad can live & be positive whilst dealing with CF, then I can get by with a bad day :)

Waterboys - Whole of the Moon

Deacon Blue - Real gone kid

2Funky2 - Brothers & Sisters

Sam Fender - Seventeen going under. Most of the lyrics are like living through my teenage years again.

Hi Ren by Ren. It's a treatise on self doubt, but also on hope.

As you can guess by my user name I'm a massive fan. Hi Ren is pure genius. All his songs are incredible.

ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees · 20/02/2024 18:13

I love this thread and adopting some of them.

This will probably sound a bit sad but I work in a very male dominated industry and there's about 5 of us women who all really want each other to succeed.

It's become a sort of tradition that if any one of us is interviewing, that the other 4 have to send them a motivational song in WhatsApp the morning of the interview.

My favourites are Kate Perry - Firework
Alicia Keys - This Girl is on Fire
Journey- Don't Stop Believing
Imagine Dragons - Top of the World

Moier · 20/02/2024 18:16

I will Survive by Chantay Sauvage.( Not Gloria).
