There might already be a thread on this topic, but I'm just flabbergasted: www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2023/feb/14/my-most-romantic-moment-i-had-just-given-birth-and-my-boyfriend-made-me-a-perfect-bowl-of-pasta?CMP=fb_gu&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&fbclid=IwAR0QPpr9VBbx64vpGTiKLpyQbSyIrKhER2fY_NQBPfyrEEEs-JUnBDgNkfA#Echobox=1676381262
In short, woman is eternally grateful and considers it soooo romantic and amazing that a man was able to...well, basically warm up a dish she had made and boil some pasta.
And I have so many questions.
- why is it impressive?
- why did it take him 'almost as long as my labour' to boil some pasta and warm up the sauce she had made? Also OMG just break the linguini before cooking if you have no other pasta at home, you dimwit.
- why was she eating one meal per day when breastfeeding?
- why was the father 'unable to do almost anything for our baby'? Other than breastfeeding, he could have done everything else.
- how low is the bar if this is impressive and the most romantic thing ever that someone warms up a meal you have prepared, after you have just been through a long and traumatic birth. What was the 'expected' option then, that the mother hobbles to the kitchen to cook for the father instead?
- am I just a bitter woman who doesn't understand romance?
