I’m not moving off the sofa for 6 hours

It’s pouring down with rain, I’ve lit candles, in my pjs on the sofa under the duvet, cup of coffee, buttery toast, dog cuddled up to me and tv all day…it’s heaven.
I *Never ever do this. I worked full time all my life, had my Dd later, due to infertility, was a sahm, glad I did it, but found the lack of time alone v difficult.
Dd started pre school and I drop her and head to work, finish work and pick her up.
Last night I barely slept, haven’t felt 100% recently, so I’m taking a mental health day/skiving, whatever you want to call it.
The school run was easier as I literally brushed my teeth, trainers on, no showers and make up for work, came back, back into pjs and I’m just here wishing I could do this every day 🙈😅
Does anyone do this on a regular basis? If so, you are lucky!
I’m just going to enjoy not having to speak for six hours or listen to anyone else, to only get food and drinks for myself..it’s the small things 🤣

@FrenchandSaunders That sounds like my ideal weekend too!
I remember years ago, pre dc, Dh went away for a few days for work. I did a food shop of all my favourite bits-love cheese and crackers also and nachos, dips etc. I stocked up on it all and just spent a whole weekend alone, watching films, listening to music, reading, just my dog and I, I loved it and never got bored like this at all, although many do

@Boysnme At the moment, I’m just watching This Morning, which is a waste, I need recommendations too 😂Anything on Netflix, HBO? The last things I watched I enjoyed were The lotus series (forget full name) and Happy valley

I'm back in my pyjamas after getting soaked when I was walking the dog.I'm going to make a latte, top it up with Baileys and slob out on the settee until DP comes home.

I really fancy watching Desperate housewives, I remember watching it but was in my twenties at the time and had no idea 😅
I imagine it will feel different this time, does anyone know where I can watch it?

YANBU - impressed by your bladder too

Think we're the same age Grin

I recently rewatched desperate housewives and I loved it all over again!

I try and do this whenever I have a holiday off work.

Sometimes if I am busy I’ll get everything done in the morning and then have a full afternoon/evening of it.

But I usually plan it in advance and get everything sorted the day before - extra long dog walk, cleaning, snacks etc.

My DD loves it too.
We used to do it together but as she’s gotten older she’ll just watch tv in bed all day.

Schnooze · 15/02/2023 11:47

I’m having a similar day. Still in bed!

I can identify with that. Having been a child free adult for a long time made the transition to being a parent very difficult for me.

Enjoy your day off.

Sorry you are having horrible weather though. It is sunny here in Yorkshire.

melmos · 15/02/2023 11:55

Just eat and deliveroo do groceriesannd alcohol 😉
Enjoy!

I have two young primary school aged DC and work four days a week, but usually spend my one day off doing housework.... I am determined to do this soon though!

Sleeepdeprived · 15/02/2023 12:36

That sounds absolutely perfect. I’ve also always worked full time and when pregnant I’ve worked up until 40 weeks. My only day like what you’re having right now was when I was 40+1, my first day of maternity leave and I had dropped my son to nursery. I went for a little walk and then chilled on the sofa all day with snacks. Was absolute bliss. I’d been wishing baby to come early but on that day I was wishing baby to stay in for another week or two. Contractions started that night so have never had another day like that again.
