To ask how on earth you sell stuff on Vinted?

Trying desperately to sell DD’s clothes on Vinted. I’ve sold a few bits but I still have so much to sell and nothing seems to be shifting or even getting any views.

My pictures are clear (example attached) my descriptions are detailed. How on earth do I get views, let alone sales?

All I hear about is people making like £500 on vinted, how? If you sell on vinted, do you just have items that sit there for months?

I’ve tried selling bundles (and have managed to sell a few bundles but the rest are just sitting there 8 weeks later)

I really need to create some space for her next size clothes so I’m debating whether to just stick the whole lot on FB marketplace as one, huge bulk buy, or giving it to charity.

What makes you buy/ view an item?

Have you applied discount if they buy more than one? Next stuff sells at lot better on vinted. Also check you’ve selected the correct postage

DramaLlama20 · 13/02/2023 21:26

Kids clothes are hard to sell on there. Bundles do work better but must be priced cheap. I make the most money on designer or branded kids clothes or kids accessories such as baby carriers etc. Womens clothes sell well for me.

UserNameSameGame · 13/02/2023 21:27

Your photo isn’t great. Plain while or plain colourful background, and much closer up or cropped.

Hellocatshome · 13/02/2023 21:28

Make it cheap. For example I would put the outfit in your photo on for £2.

Okay, noted thanks. Might go back through and re-photograph stuff.

Yup, it’s literally for sale for £2

I think the issue with baby clothes is that you can't really sell them for much and by the time the buyer has added the vinted charge and postage it becomes not worth it.
You probably need to have bits on at a low price with a bundle discount that way people can pick their own bundle.

ew1990 · 13/02/2023 21:30

Oh op can you pm me your vinted username? Looking for girls stuff. Thank you

BumbleNova · 13/02/2023 21:30

Some brands sell better than others. What brands are you selling?

Is it priced realistically? Things don't sell for very much unless mint condition, great brand.

I'd agree on photos. If I'm buying second hand clothes, I want close ups.

TheCave · 13/02/2023 21:32

What sizes are you trying to sell? It's rarely worth it for the really small sizes unless things are brand new with tags. People generally just want new stuff for their babies, they discover secondhand later when they realise how ridiculous it is to buy pristine expensive stuff for mucky toddlers. I'd bundle it and try to sell at a reasonably low price still, or try a nearly new sale.

justasmalltownmum · 13/02/2023 21:32

It's branded stuff that sells.

I would put 2 or 3 sets (like your picture) together and for £10

Elmo230885 · 13/02/2023 21:33

Have just seen your update. £2 seems about right but with the vinted charge and postage it's almost £5. I'd be more Lilley to buy if you had a few items and a bundle discount of, say 25%. I'd probably buy 4 to 5 pieces or so knowing it would cost about £10.

CrazyEgg · 13/02/2023 21:33

Never sell 1 item it’s so not worth it. Small bundle of 3-5 similar items, up to £10 for the lot and I will be your target customer

Hellocatshome · 13/02/2023 21:33

Vintedfrustration · 13/02/2023 21:29

Ah in that case I would make a.little bundle of outfits say 5 outfits for £5. Baby clothes are really hard to shift. The most success I've had is with branded teen boys clothes.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 13/02/2023 21:34

I don’t buy bundles. Maybe I’m odd! We bought loads of baby clothes for £1/2 from Vinted, although I did focus on sellers who offered reduced postage for more than one thing

I never sell bundles and find it hard to shift adult stuff.

mmy kuds stuff sells really easily though.

RuthW · 13/02/2023 21:42

My adult dresses always sell well.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 13/02/2023 21:43

Clear photos. Make sure you have filled everything in. Brand age etc. Small parcel is really good and up to 500g.

Take loads of photos and of the labels.

I tend to sell things the day I put them on. If they don’t sell after two weeks I delete and re-list them. I’m selling my pre weight loss clothes and kids clothes. All sells well imo. Price it to sell. Bundles are good.

MaoamAddict · 13/02/2023 21:45

I made £300 in a weekend selling my old Joules tops & jackets, but kids clothes don't seem to sell unless it's frugi/boden/high end

Flowerfairy101 · 13/02/2023 21:48

I started vinted recently and sold 3 things in a week, thought this is great, since then not a sausage. Loads of favouriting of my items and people making offers which when I accept them, they never pay but no actual sales. I guess it's a crowded market too. I get more interest on things that are branded like PP mentions.

Blinkingheckythump · 13/02/2023 21:50

It's a cute outfit and I'd pay £2 for it, but by the time vinted add on their fee and I pay postage it's not £2 it's about a fiver, and it's just not worth that. Personally I never buy on vinted unless the seller has 3 or more items I want, all cheap and with bundle discount.

DashboardConfessional · 13/02/2023 21:51

I've been selective. So DS's Start Rite wellies/M and Co or Trespass coats have sold but I've not bothered listing anything else that's not Frugi or Verdtbaudet. That's just gone to charity.

Women's however sells great. I've sold bags and shoes really quickly.

Lordofthebutterfloofs · 13/02/2023 21:55

It's got to be the price. I sold a huge bag of kids 5-6 for a fiver and my pic was of them all scrunched up in the bag 😂

People don't want second hand baby/kids stuff really op it's so cheap new nowadays. You have to sell it REALLY cheap

RoseyPosey78 · 13/02/2023 21:57

I've made quite a lot on vinted and I don't do anything different to you! But I've only sold older girls and branded adult stuff, as PP said why not try bundles?

IWineAndDontDine · 13/02/2023 22:03

Babies clothes are so so hard to sell. There are branded outfits on there for 1-2£ so the supermarket stuff is unappealing despite it being barely used! I must admit I stopped bothering, the effort for 1£, packaging it, walking to post office etc just wasn't worth it
