some parents think it "totally acceptable" for their little darlings to ruin someone elses special meal, its bad enough shopping in tescp hearing sceaming kids having tantrums, Ive had four (grown up now) and could take them anywhere

Good for you op. I'll sleep better tonight knowing that.

Well thank you for letting us know! Very enlightening!

Well done you. You’re the best parent ever (and probably have selective memory)

i mean they could be a nightgmare, twin daughters aged about 5 , or 6, sibling sltting in the middle of them driving all the way to italy; no wonder we hit the wine when we got there

If this stream on consciousness is typical of your approach to conversations then I doubt the kid was disturbing anything too riveting.

Oh goody, another one of these threads.

I hear you OP! I was at a restaurant with my daughter yesterday. I took books and colouring, we chatted etc whilst we waited for food but children the same age as her where running laps round the tables, throwing food about the place and trying to steal other customer's food.

I think there's a difference between loud chatty excited children (an inquisitive child is a beautiful thing) or children who are sad etc and children who aren't being supported by their adults. Children don't learn social norms by magic.
