Neighbour reported me ASB

Over Christmas I said several visitors. My now ex, came on Christmas Eve and parked in the communal car park.

On Christmas day, he drove me to the pub to collect my car. On returning, the car park was full, so was my driveway so he parked in front of the grass area shown on my map.

His car was there for 24 hours, he went home boxing day. This is the only time a visitor of mine has parked there in the 18 months I've been here.

My neighbour reported me to my landlord for blocking his driveway. There was plenty of room for him to pass. Also we were on good terms, he could knock at my door any time.

I'm worried this will affect my tenancy. I tried talking to the neighbour to apologise but he told me to shut up and go away. I understand some other people haven't been considerate about parking and feel that he's picking on me because I am female and live alone. I've heard the neighbour shouting at another female neighbour. To think that I offered to do his shopping etc when he said he wasn't well.

Car was parked where this red car is, but tighter to the kerb. Map shows layout.

If there was room to pass parking in that manner, he should have just parked in a similar way on your side.

I think it would be very unlucky for a one off parking spat to cause any major consequences, try not to worry.

I would have continued parking there because I'm bolshy like that.

Landlords end up getting all sorts of complaints for non issues because (in the eyes of people like the neighbour) tenants are apparently serfs who can be kicked out on a whim.

Grumpybutfunny · 13/02/2023 11:54

Sorry don't no who's car it was, end of discussion. Id also borrow a car to leave there for a few days

If the complaint was without photographic evidence then you could easily argue the misogynist was drunk on Christmas Day and is mistaken.

Or if you have any reasonable grounds to believe drug use, high.

I doubt the landlord will do anything.

Well from the photo/diagram, it certainly looks like you were completely blocking your neighbour's access. Your neighbour isn't being very nice about it but he's within his rights to be fed up about it. Why didn't your ex just park further away somewhere with actual space where he wasn't blocking a drive and just walk? Did you ask your neighbour if it was ok to block his drive for 24 hours? (sounds like you didn't, you just assumed).

It looks like that on the diagram, but the photo indicates that there's plenty of space to pass behind the car currently parked there, and OP says her ex's car was closer in to the kerb.

You probably can't deny all knowledge if your ex was seen going into your property and if he may visit again. But you can just say that the neighbour clearly wasn't inconvenienced because there was more than enough room to drive, and if he wasn't he didn't take the obvious step of knocking on your door; also that others have warned you about this neighbour. I doubt the landlord will take it any further.

Who’s “investigating”, the landlord? Sounds rather dramatic.
If as you say there was room to pass, write to the landlord and say exactly that - the car wasn’t yours, you can’t tell someone else where to park, the road was not blocked, there was plenty of room to pass, the neighbour didn’t complain at the time. Would also be worth saying that this neighbour has been aggressive to you before and that you were warned about him. You don’t need to just passively take this and worry about the effect on your tenancy. You’re not guilty of any antisocial behaviour ffs.
