Exactly 10 weeks post partum. Had an elective section and overall recovery has gone well. I'm still 8kg heavier than pre pregnancy (but I think some of that is the breastfeeding boobs), but my stomach is still flabby, it's not really loose skin as there is clearly quite a bit of fat there.... I'm walking loads and watching what I eat but maybe it's not enough, or am I expecting too much too soon?

I wish I didn't care but I'm still in my maternity trousers and I just want to wear my actual clothes and feel a bit more like me again.

Give yourself time. You've grown a human, gone through major surgery, and are adapting to life with a new born.

As and when you feel ready, start an exercise class, there are loads now that you can take baby to. But don't rush it, your body has done a great thing. Give it time

You are 10 weeks PP that is such a short amount of time. It took 9 months to grow that baby, it'll take longer for you to get back to how you were (if ever, babies do change your bodies drastically!)

I'm 5 months PP and still have flab unfortunately. Don't pressure yourself too hard too soon, especially if you're breastfeeding, with a tiny baby to look after. Your body has done a magnificent thing, be gentle with it and let yourself recover. Also a C section is a whole different story - they've cut through layers of fat, tissue and muscle so the road to recovery is harder. There are some specific C Section exercises you can do on YouTube I think but again I'd say don't over exert yourself x

That’s a very short time.

If you want to lose weight, you should do it very sensibly as pregnancy and breastfeeding take a toll and you need good nutrition. Are you sure you mean 8kg, rather than 8lbs? If you are sure that was a lot of not baby related weight so it will take a while but there’s no rush.

Things that might not be helping are being at home or visiting a lot, as snacking is so easy and comforting. Baby groups and friends and family will often proffer biscuits and cake too and biscuits are the devil! I could see off a packet in a day, no problem.

Drinking lots of water and having it to hand and sipping instead of snacking, treating yourself to fancy teas or whatever you like and not having crisps, biscuits or cake in the house all help me when I’m losing or controlling my weight. Have fruit or cream/ cottage cheese plus Ryvitas or similar to hand for snacking if you really need a fix, rather than reaching for processed foods or confectionery.

Honestly go easy in yourself though. You’ve had major abdominal surgery and a baby at the same time.
