Menstrual Cup Help.

(MN i didn't know where to post this, please move if needed!)

I am looking for recommendations for menstrual cups as my current one (Hey Girls L) isn't working for me. It leaks from the minute it's in and never seems to have a good suction, I can easily get my finger round it. I think it's too narrow.

I usually have a high cervix but do have months where it gets pretty low.

I believe I have a heavy flow. Days 2&3 I can be changing a super tampon every 3 hours (less than that very occasionally) Days 4-5 I am every 5-6 hours then 6-7 I am using regular tampons and getting 6+ hours.

I have given birth twice, once with forceps with quite bad pelvic damage at the time. My pelvic floor now is pretty good, no urine leaks etc but I don't feel it's as right on my period if that makes sense.

Hey

I was a long term using of moon cups pre kids and post babies I found them soooo uncomfortable no matter what I tried. They even sent me a different size but it leaked or would slip down a lot. I was recommended a salt soft cup and I’ve loved mine so far. No leaking much more comfortable. If you google there’s a quiz you can take to see best one for you xx

This quiz might help. I have a heavy flow after 2 kids and found a mooncup works the best for me. There’s a different size for after you have had kids. But there’s a lot of different types.

Another saalt soft cup lover here! I've had kids but it vaginally and the small works better for me (I think they recommend the regular for post kids usually but it didn't work well for me).

For heavy periods, I've found the Merula OS to be great. It's short (so works with low cervix) but also has a long ladder stem (works for high cervix) and quite a unique shape which makes it a shorter cup with a really high capacity. The Merula XL is even bigger (I think it has one of the biggest capacities, alongside Super Jenny cup). My flow is similar to yours on heavy days though and the Merula OS lasts 12 hours.

If you find you don't get on with cups in general, discs are a decent alternative too. IMO a bit of a longer learning curve and harder to master, but work for a lot of people who struggle with cups. Good luck!

I tried that quiz and got different results each time despite my answers remaining the same lol.

Hoped speaking to others in same boat would help, so good old Mumsnet I came 😂

Sometimes my tampons leak without being "full" so I definitely think I am just wide set.

I used mooncup before dc1 and the larger version after, but it felt weird after dc2, just never felt secure in the way it did before. Moved to duchess cup (and a backup no name brand from Amazon as an emergency one in my bag) both are great

Thanks I have ordered some to trial lol.

Wear a sanitary towel with it on days 2 and 3. I have an extremely cheap one I brought off some discount thing. It works better when I have more flow tbf. It took my body months to get use to a cup.

I use a reusable towel / liner anyway..even with tampons as I have a fear of leaks for some reason. But thank you for the advice.
