To consider going to the shop

And leaving the children in the house?
They are 7 and 3 and the shop is right at the end of my street, about ten houses away.

I kind of know I probably am being unreasonable, because otehrwise I'd already have gone wouldn't I?

With the 7 year old probably not, but I wouldn't leave a 3 year old alone in the house (by alone I mean without an adult);

My friend's mum always said: "I'm sure the children will be fine but what if something happened to you while you were out?"

I wouldn't leave a 3yo. They can do 12 terrible things in 30 seconds flat.

Dropdeadfred · 08/02/2008 09:34

Not unreasonable for the thought to enter your head, completely unreasonable if you went through with it. If its so close hat is the problem with taking them?

kindersurprise · 08/02/2008 09:37

I would not leave my 3yo.

More because I would be frightened of what he would get up to while I was out.

He is having a painting the walls phase at the moment. While I am having a climbing the walls phase.

forget it, very bad idea, don't even consider it. is it really worth putting your kids at risk for a loaf of bread, or whatever you buy from corner shop.

stleger · 08/02/2008 09:58

If it is 10 doors, if she is happy, I'd do it! But I am sure you aren't really supposed to...

VictorianSqualor · 08/02/2008 10:00

Well, I went, took DS with me though.
I left DD at home watching her programme with strict instructions not to open the door to anyone, and if I wasnt back by the time her programme had finished she was to call my mobile, then her dads work no. (incase soemthing happened to me whilst I was goign to said shop.

Did you buy bread, milk, muffins and emergency chocolate? My problem in nipping to the shop is I either have to shut my neighbour's dog in my house, or she follows me and sits in the middle of the road looking suspiciously like my dog who I should have on a lead!
