I have had two older sons go through this high school and no issues and one has chronic health issues that required a lot of support they have been brilliant.
however since this year my y8 daughter has lunch at 1.45pm she then has afternoon season of half a hour 2.15pm til 2.45 then finishes she’s said she feels faint she has a big breakfast and a snack at 11.30but surly kids shouldn’t be expected to eat lunch at 1.45pm?? My son is type 1 diabetic he went to this school but it was normal 12.30 times for lunch this is ridiculous I think

YABU.

If you were saying this is bad for your daughter due to her specific health needs - fine and reasonable.

But a blanket assertion that no teenagers can be expected to go 5 and a half hours without food is odd.

There's nothing inherently ridiculous about a 1:45 lunchtime at all, and there's nothing wrong with a short afternoon session, especially given how early she's finishing school.

If she has an actual, diagnosed medical issue, then presumably there would need to be some sort of strategy considered, like allowing her to have a snack between lessons, or moving her to another tutor group if that would change her lunch time, but otherwise, it's just a question of her working out how to manage herself best.

Going at it from the perspective of 1:45 being somehow inherently unreasonable won't solve anything.

Our school does 25 min break and 45 mins for lunch.
Break and lunch times are staggered with years 8/10/12 having the later lunch between lesson 4 and the last lesson of the day.

It works fine. Those with packed lunch can eat it at break or lunch time and those who buy / get free school meals can choose hot substantial food at break time if they wish.

With 2000+ kids on site, there just isn't time / space to serve lunch to all between 12-1.

1 - OP says her daughter doesn't have genuine medical problems as she's been tested already. They can't move the timetable around just because someone is hungry.

2 - it will be due to staggering breaks, but I doubt her DD can be moved just so she has a better lunchtime. Our school did staggered lunches by year group and changed it around weekly/termly.

3 - The school only has a limited amount of hours in the day. They can't fit everyone in for lunch at the same time so someone is always going to have to go last. They can't change the size of the dining area or the speed at which kids can be served/eat.

The school can do nothing about someone being hungry - she can eat before school and at break/in between lessons if she really can't wait just like everyone else has to.

I'm not sure why you seem to think it was controversial of me to suggest OP talk to the school about a problem her daughter is having.

Having a discussion is a very reasonable thing to do if your child is struggling at school in any way, then you can problem solve together. Any good school would do this. If they can't do anything then fair enough, but there's nothing wrong with having a discussion, and if nothing else it raises their awarenss of the issue which may also be affecting other children.

As you say, some change weekly/ termly, maybe they're not doing that at the moment and they could. Maybe they don't need to stagger lunch as much as they do. These solutions involve talking to someone.

Our's is 1.20. We have to start last lesson by 2. It too late.
