It's not something I would do, mine have all had baby curls at the end and it is a knotty nightmare but I just let it be a bit wild and condition the knots out on hairwash nights. I am a slack mother!

I agree - I don;t think a 2yo should be havin her hair straighten at all, never mind chemically.

I have only just started letting my nearly 6yo have her hair straighten with my irons in the last month or so, and only then for special occasions.

ooh, seems a bit extreme.. DD has mad curly hair, and it can be a PITA, but thanks to the advice i got here, i manage it much better now.

That just seems daft. My niece (2.5) has a wild mop of blond curls which are lovely - sister uses a leave-in conditioner if she wants them to look a bit less untamed. Poor niece is constantly asked for a curl by strangers! (She's taken to giving me one down the phone, though, which is sweet).

agree re bristle brush, i use a mason and pearson one, that is about 25 years old, and it makes her hair gleam

my dd1 (3.5) has curly hair (not over curly but enough to make hair brush times a nightmare) I do let her occasionally have it straightened with my straightners but not that often.

I find good conditioner after a shampoo wash and some leave in conditioner sprayed in and a brush with good quality brush sorts alot of the problems out

Oh, I think ear piercing on children is horrid, but not really the issue. The hair thing is a bit crazy, but we dont know how bad her hair is? I mean, Im presuming it wasnt just a few waves in her hair? It isnt something I would ever do, as I think its setting the wrong type of image for a child, and also the chemical burns etc.

i use normal conditioner diluted in water and in a spray bottle ..

I think my sister uses a spray on leave-in conditioner, like eandh mentioned. Would that be easier?

getting dd to agree to hair washing - lol!!!

there is no agreement in this house lots of husterical screaming etc I just do it!!!! If it's really knotty you could put lots of conditioner on dry hair and then rinse it off it will help get knots out
