I am politically opposed to SATS but realise that they happen. I didn't want to know DS' projected levels

because I was worried it would turn me into a super-competitive parent who tries to eek out what other kids' projected levels are

so I didn't ask, but she told me anyway

And now I'm dying to know what his friends are projected to get

how do I swallow this down

ask them all and then gloat quietly about your genius boy - if you don't tell anyone you've ditched your views it doesn't count

Twiglett · 07/02/2008 20:19

I didn't say his levels were good did I?

I don't want to gloat ... nor do I wish to be jealous

I just don't want to be in the middle of this .. and I know it's going to be at the school gates tomorrow

god I hate the concept of SATS

I hate them too - at every level and for every possibly reason.

Having said that I don't think we were ever given projected grades for dss at KS1. DS1 is in yr6 this year, and so far SATs have barely been mentioned, and I certainly haven't heard anything about projected grades from him or teacher.

We've got P/T meeting just before Easter, so teacher may give us them then. Having said that she knows very well my views on SATs, so she might not dare mention them

southeastastra · 07/02/2008 20:31

i hate them, ds(14) has just done the yr 9 ones.

i'm tempted to not send my ds(6) into the year 2 ones. he'd let down the school

don't go to school gates. That's the sort of chatter I would hate. Stop taking such an interest in children's lives.

Rhubarb · 07/02/2008 20:35

I don't agree with it either. My dd has done hers, I don't know the results and I don't want to know. We've not made the slightest deal of it and as far as dd was concerned, they were just like any other test with no other significance.

Quattrocento · 07/02/2008 20:35

Yep, I am with pointy. Drop the kids and run like hell. Do not talk to them. Mutter to yourself. Look a little crazy.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 07/02/2008 20:39

twig - do you know what the average score is? If he's below, then you and the teachers know that there are areas where he needs more help/more work or will just improve naturally with age, like a Bordeaux. If he's average or above, no worries. Do not get hung up on other people.

DD1 has SATS next year.

Twiglett · 07/02/2008 21:06

well, of course he's above

see I can't help myself .. this is what it does to me

pretty amazed at ds1's projected levels tbh.
but also vague as have nothing to compare them to

pointydog · 07/02/2008 21:08

piffle, twig - go and compare together. And don;t come back crying to us because we don;t care.
