What to do about DS?

4 year old, non verbal (suspected ASD), still in nappies.

Has had runny stools for the past 2 days which has continued onto this morning. This morning was generally unsettled and crying, gave him calpol just in case it was bellyache etc. He seemed fine this afternoon but then fell asleep on the sofa for about 30 minutes, woke up crying and wriggling in pain and generally just seems really tired/unhappy.

I don't know if it js bellyache or not, have tried to ask him to point at where is hurting but he's not really understanding. He has no temperature or anything like that but I'm getting worried.

Do I just see how he gets on or should I ring somebody? I don't want to waste doctors time if it is something or nothing but have no idea what else it could be Sad

Sounds like stomach bug, poor little mite! Should be gone in 48 hours. Call 111 if you are worried.

@Wibblewibble1 yeah I think it is that, but I'm worried as he seems in pain and looks terrible. Is calpol enough to help with that? Or is there anything else I could give?

Nurofen always works best for us.

My son is the same age, still in nappies, also suspected ASD and speech delay so I feel you!

I personally get him checked out due to the lack of speech. Docs are always happy to see him knowing the situation. Explain to receptionist and you'll feel better getting him checked, get anything if he needs it.

Is he drinking?

Ok you need to try and up the water in take.

Putting water in a Calpol syringe works for us when he doesn't want an actual drink.

His nappies wet?
