This might turn into an "I'm a TA, ask me anything" and that's fine.
Having been speaking to both my family and parents at my children's school, I've realised that there's still a common misconception that TAs only make displays, mix paint and wipe snotty noses... what do you think a TA does at your child's school, how much do you think they're paid and what hours do they work?!!

The best resource you can have in a classroom is staff. A TA is priceless as far as I'm concerned. We're so lucky in my school that every class teacher has a TA for each morning. They are all amazing!

Regarding the Blatchford report, education in 2004-2009 was very different from what we see now. Public services were better funded, the waiting lists for CAMHS, SS, SALT were nothing like what we see now. The levels of unfunded need is nothing like nearly 20 years ago. Over half of my class has SFP's but only one child receives any funding. The system is no longer fit for purpose, not that the current Government cares.
