Wtf is this on his foot?!

What is this on my 6 year old’s foot?! If I ring the docs I probably won’t be able to get him seen until June or something as it’s not an emergency! The heel is really rough, he said it doesn’t hurt but it’s itchy. The other bit further up his foot is painful, it’s really raised and yellow?! From Googling the closest thing I can find that resembles it is a corn?! Any feet specialists about? 🙈😂

It must be PE! I saw some photos on his class page of them doing it barefoot 😷

Definitely lots of verrucas. The heel bit I don't know. Does your GP have an online appointment request that you can attach a photo?

SheWoreYellow · 01/02/2023 21:08

I would shove some Canesten and Vaseline on for a couple of days and see if that helps the heel.

No, they used to but don’t any more 😞

I don't know OP, i just came on to laugh at the pic. The way you're holding his foot looks like, "Gotcha! Hold still mister, i need to get a pic for the hive think".😁

Barefoot is the safest way - especially if there is gym equipment involved.

I had a huge cluster of verrucae on my heel that looked very like that when I was younger. Very sore and itchy and felt rough

A trip to the podiatrist sorted it out

Takentomybed · 01/02/2023 21:27

Could be hand foot and mouth?

Run31 · 01/02/2023 21:43

Take him to pharmacist, they will be able to tell you and recommend treatment if it's needed. I went to one about my feet in December and they were spot on.

piedbeauty · 01/02/2023 22:12

Oh, I'd take him to a podiatrist and have his heel locked at. Looks painful.

You can buy stuff in Boots for verrucas. Poor kid!

His heel isn’t painful it’s just itchy he says.

It just looks like a few layers of skin involved. Could get infected. Kids' skin isn't meant to do that! No point going to see GP; they will just refer. I'd go to pharmacy/podiatrist.

Princesspollyyy · 01/02/2023 22:25

It looks like a verruca, but for something like that you could go to the pharmacy and they will look at it for you.

JudgeRinderonTinder · 01/02/2023 22:35

You don’t need a doctor. I’d ring a podiatrist.

Dillydollydingdong · 01/02/2023 22:38

Just watched a program on tv where a man had something similar on his feet, but lots of them. Turned out they were warts and had to be removed one by one.

Franticbutterfly · 02/02/2023 00:24

Use Salactol on it and give him zinc supplements.

Namechangingagain111 · 02/02/2023 00:48

My guess is mosaic verrucas, I had them years ago
Try a podiatrist - I doubt the GP will do much (or do I mean that I know that my GP would do absolutely nothing.....)

AllOutofEverything · 02/02/2023 01:17

There is no evidence based treatment for verruca's so a GP will not prescribe anything. There are things pharmacists sell that you can try, but even in the packaging they say they can take a few months to work. They are very common in young children.
If the pharmacist is not helpful, book to see a nurse at your surgery. This is the kind of thing a nurse can advise on.

AllOutofEverything · 02/02/2023 01:18

@Namechangingagain111 GPs do nothing for verruca's because there is no evidence based treatment. They disappear by themselves.

blebbleb · 02/02/2023 07:33

If it's a verruca they don't usually advise treating it. My podiatrist says they go away by themselves. I had one for years and it was burnt off when the doctors used to do it but it didn't work. It just blistered the area surrounding and went away of its own accord. If you can afford a podiatrist it's a good idea.

Verruca are what the Americans call Planar Warts.

They are warts caused by the same virus but because they are on the sole of the feet, pressure makes them grow in the way rather than out.

Sugarfree23 · 02/02/2023 07:45

Some people seem to think they'll go on their own but I picked up one in 2004 it was eventually evicted by the podiatrist in 2019 by dry needling. It was a wee stubborn thing.

Those look like they are spreading I'd get them treated.

Wombatbum · 02/02/2023 18:48

Took him to the pharmacy. They gave us Salactol and some heel cream with lots of urea in that cost £10!!! Will see how we get on.

I'd get some teatree oil (dirt cheap in home bargains) and keep soaking his feet in warm water with a few drops, kills everything😜 definately works on athletes foot neat (mum of three grown up boys😳). They also sell a really good cream for £1.99 (Lanes witch hazel and teatree) which takes down inflammation and helps with itching........ Worth a try👍

Another vote here for mosaic verrucas on the heel
